Using New York as a theme, the decorations will depict many of the swell-known scenes in the "big city." Cece Schmier is decorations chairman for the annual event, to be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8 on the second floor of the League. * * * THE BALLROOM, with Sara Weed in charge, will be trans- formed into the Astor Roof where the skyline, silhouetted against colored lights rising from the streets, will be viewed by dancers. Various instruments will be sus- pended over the bandstand. Couples may walk from the ballroom directly into Central Park, ordinarily the . Concourse, - complete with benches, trees, birds, a zoo and the park's famous carriages. A carnival atmosphere will pre- vail in the Coney Island Room. Booths and other games of chance will decorate the "midway." FISHNETS, and anchor and a steering wheel will'hang from the walls of one of Gotham City's infamous waterfront dives. Adventurers attending will be able to try their luck in the Ca- sino Room, where dice and other gambling motifs will surround the gamesters. Admission will be 75 cents per person. An appeal is being made by Soph Cab officials to students for sheets to be used for decorating purposes. All sheets are to be taken to Rm. 3G of the League. Record Concerts Record concerts will continue tonight from 8:30 to 10 p.m. in the League Library for both men and women students. Tuesday evening concerts will also be open to men beginning this week. Decorations for the sixth annual 'Holly Hop' to be presented from 8:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday in West Quadrangle will be based on the theme, "The Night Before Christmas." A street scene with many trees and houses will give the setting of the Christmas poem. Santa and his reindeer, and the boy who "got out of bed to see what was the matter" will be shown. Candy canes and sugar plums suspended from the ceiling will de- pict the "visions of sugar plums." Dancers will be met at the door by a snowy blast, four carolers, Santa Claus and an animated snowman. Going on to the living' room, couples will see "stockings hung by the chimney with care" and more "visions of sugar plums." A quartet composed of Tom Leo- pold, Dick Mottern, Pete Horst and Bob Leopold will play numbers in the Benny Goodman style. They will include such favorites as "Lazy River" and "Honeysuckle Rose." The audience will be invited to join in on the choruses of "When the Saints Come Marching In" which will spotlight Al Herman on the drums, while Grant Smith will be featured in "Down Yonder."
