IGuglielni Passes Irish to 19-12 win LOS ANGELES - f(') - The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, marching in ghost-like fashion 61 yards for the winning touchdown through the gloom of a fog-filled stadium, defeated their old rivals, the Trojans of Southern Califor- nia, in the final minutes yester- day, 19-12. Led by green shirted fteshman, Ralph Guglielmi, and three sen- iors winding up their, careers at Notre Dame, the Irish broke a 12-all deadlock with only six min- utes left to play on a drive that would not be denied. HALFBACK John Petitobon swept right end on a pitchout for the final eight yards, and soon thereafter the visitors from South Bend left the Coliseum to the cheers of most of the 55,783 fans, rejoicing in their 14th victory in this silver anniversary battle with the Trojans. This payoff punch was the breaking point for a Trojan team that was favored from the start and on top through most of the game. But the Irish never seemed to know they could be whipped. Twice they came from behind to tie the score before going out in 'front for the winning points. The windup of the season left the Irish with seven wins, two de- feats, and or* tie.
