PAGE EIGHT THE MICHIGAN DAILY S .. E I ol IN 11111 1 -111, 1111111 11 TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1951 A WOMEN TRIUMPH-AS USUAL: 'U' Scholarship Average Dips to 2 .56 C After tying the all-time record in 1949-50, University undergrad- uate scholarship took a slight dip last year. The canipus wound up with an average of 2.56, after reaching a peak of 2.57 the year before and in two previous years. J 7 AS USUAL, the women outdid the men. Haggard males, dis- traught with draft w o r r i e s, slipped .02 to 2.53, while the wo- men shot up .02 to 2.64. All these averages ranged be- tween a "B" and a "C" in the University's grade-point system of averaging marks. "A" counts four points per semester hour credit, "B" three points per hour, and so on down the line. Among the general groups, wo- m e n in co-operative housing again placed at the top with a 2.74. or almost three-fourths of the distance from a "C' to a "B" grade. SORORITIES WERE next in line with a 2.67, followed by wo- men's residence halls, men's resi- dence halls, men's co-ops and fraternities in that order. Freshmen found the sledding a little rough, as they wound up with only 2.40, The grade averages for last year for the individual housing groups follows: RESIDENCE HALLS Grade-Point Rank Student Group Average 1 Martha Cook Bldg. ......2.89 2 Adelia Cheever House ....2.81 3 Betsy Barbour House .....2.69 4 Henderson House .......2.68 5 Helen Newberry Residence 2.67 6 Stockwell Hall ...........2.62 Women's Residence Halls 2.61 7 Michigan House .........2.60 8 Jordan Hall .............2.59. 8 Angell House ............2.59 10 10 12 12 14 14 16 17 17 19 20 20 22 22 24 25 25 25 28 29 30 31 1 2 3 4 5 6 Hinsdale House ..........2.58 Allen-Rumsey House .....2.58 Lloyd House .............2.57 Mosher Hall .............2.57 Greene House ...........2.56 Chicago House ..........2.56 Adams House ............2.54 Strauss House ...........2.53 Williams House ..........2.53 M.
