PAGE TWO THE MICHIGAN DAILY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11 1951 ANTI-BRITISH FEELING: Egyptian Students Give Views on Current Crisis Different Game' Than Series DAILY OFFICIAL BULLETINI Je :1 f a n t f r " A/ T f \ 7! !} \Ifa l4 By MARGE SHEPHERD The fever of anti-Britisn feeling rampant in Egypt is reflected in the bitter opinions of Egyptian studerts con campus. Brtish troops must leave Egypt -there can be no compromise," is the doninant theme in Egypt and the other Arab nations, according to Riad Alami, grao., who left Egypt two months ago. * * * A M(RE temperate opinion was expi essed by Mohamad £. Hilmy, grad. and Emile T. Abdel Msiek, grad. 'Ihere is a possibility of a Middle Plans E lectio n October 11-12 Elections to the council of the business administration school will be held from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. to- day and tomorrow in, the lobby of the BusAd Bldg. Eita Krom Prize Competition Open Competition for the Eita Krom prize, which carries a cash award of $75, has been announced by the sociology department. Papers may be submitted by jun- fors or seniors in the literary col- lege on the topics: The Analysis of a Social Group, The Analysis of a Sociological Hypothesis or a case Study of Sociological Therapy. Papers are to be submitted to the secretary of the department before Feb. 1, 1952, and should be typewritten and between 5,000 and 10,000 words. Eas iErn pact being formulated, they said, but Britain must remove her tioop . first. Prcrosals involving the parti- cipation of the United States in Stez de'ense, being formulated by British and American offi- cials lat not been announced as 3et. "Egypt does not need British protection," Hilmy said. "Since Egypt is a member of the United Nations, they will come to her aid in case of trouble." ** v "THE EGYPTIAN demands are not an indication of a general hos- tility toward the West. Egypt is still on the side of the West," Ma'ek insisted, However, if forced to it, "Egypt may ask Russian aid to help her secure freedom from Western interference," Alami warned. The policy of the United States toward this situation should be to aid Egypt by telling the British to get out, he said. According to Hiru Shah, grad., of India, as long as the United States limits herself in the role of mediator, she will be regarded as an enemy by the Eastern peoples. "If America takes the step of outright support, it will help to close the gap which now exists be- tween the U.S. and the countries of the East," he said. NAAP Will Meet T'o Plan Survey The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will meet at 7:30 p.m. today in the Union to discuss the group's planned survey of discrimination in Ann Arbor.
