SIX THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 1951 ONE OUT OF 4,500: mm" Campus Men Will Name Favorites for 'Garg Girl' Any one of the 4,500 women en- rolled at the University this se- mester may be the new Garg Girl! Even though women are now proving their equality to men by competently filling jobs in the professional and business world, candidates for this 'sought-after title must be nominated by men only. PICTURES OF potential Garg Girls must be sent to the Student Publications Bldg. by March 2 so that judges will have ample time to give each photo the proper consideration. The name and ad- dress of the candidate and the name of the male submitting her picture must be included. A new and glamorous picture of the winner will be taken at the Garg's expense by ha well known local photographer, and both the new Garg Girl and the man who submitted her picture will receive a large portrait. The idea of featuring a campus beauty in the Garg was conceived just before the first issue for this year was printed in its off-campus cellar. WITH THE publication date dangerously near the staff found that they still had a blank page to fill. Contrary to popular be- liefs, Garg staffers are normal students with a normal apprecia- tion for feminine beauty, and so they unanimously decided to fea- ture a pretty girl on their empty page. Editor Bob Uchitelle remem- bered that there had been a pretty blond in his psych class two years ago, and the first Garg Girl was born. A similar method was used to choose the second Garg Girl, but now the staff has decided that the job of selecting a top beauty is too big and pleasant a project not to be shared, and so they are enlisting the help of all men on campus.
