v- THE MICHIGAN DAILY TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 1951 I _ ._ .. Charities Will Share Bowl Film Funds The March of Dimes and the World Student Service Fund will split the funds donated at the campus premier of the 1951 Rose Bowl movies, Dave Brown, '53, SL public relations chairman an- nounced last night. The charities will each receive half of the silver collection to be taken at all of the showings. Ten- tative plans include the purchase of an iron lung, if sufficient mon- ey is given, Brown said. The technicolor motion pictures of the Pasaadena New Year's spectacle will otherwise be free. They will be shown in Hill Audi- torium at 2 and 4 p.m. ton Sat- urday, and at 2, 4, 7, and 9 p.m. on Sunday. "The timing of the showings is particularly designed for escap- ists," Brown pointed out. "This movie is highly recommended as a respite from cramming." Each showing will be narrated by a member of the Rose Bowl team or a noted University offi- cial familiar with the game. Spon- sored jointly by the University, SI, and the M Club, the film fea- tures selected portions of the pre- game Parade of Roses and the half-time band program, as well as the complete football game it- self. An invitation to the show has been extended to all townspeo- pie and students alike, he said. 0 TRANQUILITY OF 'WINTERIZED' LAW QUAD CONTRASTS SHARPLY WITH SNOWBALL BATTLES EVERYWHERE MICHIGAN DAILY Phone 23-24-1 HOURS: 1 to 5 P.M. Students regressed to the sec- ond grade level yesterday, Faced by a snow-covered ground, exercise-eager men pum- meled buildings, trees and passers- by leaving white swatches in their wake. Students who attempted to say goodnight in front of Stockwell Hall were damply greeted by a barrage of snowballs tossed from behind the bushes around the driveway. None of the missles hit the gleaming lamps, however, so the battle was well-lighted. The journalism department in- dulged in inter-class war, which took place between 3 and 4 p.m. yesterday on the lawn next to Administration Bld g. Prospec- tive reporters and editors indulged in a bit of icy fisticuffs which end- ed in a draw when the participants decided they weren't physically capable of continuing the battle. On Washtenaw, one fraternity, endowed with a fortress-like house indulged in full scale snow. maneuvers. One, platoon manned the roof porch, while the other group defended the trees in the front yard. Real second-graders also took full advantage of the white am- munition. Their aim was deadly, and students going to classes in the Business Administration Bldg. caught the full blast of their at- tack.
