I FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1950 THE MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE FIV -,' PAGE FIVE Bewitched Bayou' Will Be Presented Tonight, Tomorrow Alligators, Pelicans, Mysterious Swamps, Will Set Mood for "A Fling With Flame"[ I ON TIHIE HOUSE By JO KETELHUT "Bewitched Bayou," the 23rd annual Sophomore Cabaret, will be presented by sophomore coeds from 8 p.m. to midnight tonight and tomorrow. The sophomore women will completely take over the second floor of the League for their pro- duction, transforming it into a southern swamp setting. . Skill games, an Enchanted Wishing Fountain, photography, a grab bag and a fortune telling booth will be among the booths set up -in the concourse of the tbague. ' Assembly Ball Petitions for Assembly Ball are due Monday in the League Undergraduate Office. FROM THERE, students may venture into Al's Alley for spooks and thrills, Bayou Bar for re- freshments, the Shad Shack for card playing, the Bird Cage for shuffleboard, ping pong and bowl- ing and, finally, the Bayou for dancing. Ted Smith and his orchestra will play from an island in the middle of the Bayou (a trans- formed ballroom) for the danc- ers. Performances of the floorshow, "A Fling with Flame," will be held at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. each night. In the show, a Michigan man and two professors will be- come entangled in a wild search in the Louisiana swamps for Flame, mystery personality played by Carolyn Nussbaum. PROFESSORS Potsy and Plet- sky, will be portrayed by Ann Lewis and Sondra Diamond. Chuck, the Michigan man appear- ing in three phases of his life, will be played by Nancy Born, Jean Purvis and Helen Allen. Another unusual character who enters into the plot of the show is Al the Alligator, Sally Gnau in disguise, who will in- " 'Tis the season to be jolly." Formals continue to steal the social spotlight with many houses planning to honor pledges and the Yuletide season this weekend. SAES WILL BE WHIRLING in a "Winter Wonderland" at their pledge formal tomorrow night. A dinner and the snow-scene dance will take place at the house. * * * * 'TIS A FEW WEEKS before Christmas, but all through Martha Cook, everyone will be stirring at their annual Christmas Ball tonight. Guests entering the main lobby will see "Ma in her Kerchief," usually identified as the statue of Venus, "all settled down for a long winter's nap." MURALS ON THE WALLS will portray "children nestled all snug in their beds," while the moon shines on the "new fallen snow," painted on the windows. Dancing will take place in the Blue and Red Rooms, which will be decorated to follow a holiday theme. * * * "SANTA CLAUS IS COMING to town" and will'head directly for the Phi Delt house tomorrow night to present dolls to the coeds who have been "good 'lil girls" all year. Santa has been contacted for the visit by the pledges, who are planning the decorations for their winter-themed formal. SUGGESTIVE OF prohibition days, "Moonshine and Four Roses" is the name given to the Prescott House record dance tomorrow. ** * * A E PIS WILL BE all decked out for "A Night at the Opera" when they stage their pledge-initiation formal tomorrow night.
