A fall in early childhood left Poyava's arms and legs underde- veloped and practically useless so that his only means of locomo- tion is in a specially-constructed wheel chair. IN SPITE OF THIS, he earned a B.A. in psychology from the Uni- versity in just three semesters, and, after working a while as psy- chologist at Jackson Prison, now has his own office in Jackson. While at the University Poy- ava attended classes in his wheel chair and, as writing was almost impossible for him, took careful mental notes. BRAND NEW ROYAL, Since he could not take the cus- tomary written exams, he was tested orally by a special board of examiners consisting of three deans and heads of departments in which he had taken courses. THE ONLY formal education this determined alumnus had pre- vious to his enrollment at the University was two semesters at Jackson Junior College where heI found progress too slow to satisfy his ambitious nature. He dropped out of school and educated him- self with the aid of the public li- brary. The Daily Official Bulletin is an official publication of the University of Michigan for which the Michigan Daily assumestno editorial responsi- bility. Publication in it is construc- tive notice to all members of the Uni- versity.
