Semi-final contests will be play- ed Wednesday, November 8 at 4:15 p.m. on the south Ferry Field grid- irons. The championship match will be contested under the arc lights of Wines Field on Tuesday, November 14. * * * ONLY FIFTEEN seconds re- mained in the tussle when Delta Sigma Phi pushed over a touch- down to edge Phi Delta Theta 9-2. A ten yard pass from Milton Heath NOW at 1:30 - 3:25 5:30 - 7:30 - 9:35 to Chuck Olson culminated the winner's final march which com- menced on their own ten yard strip. Each team matched safeties in the initial half with Bob Moore being credited with the Delta Sigma Phi two pointer. In the remaining quarterfinal encounter Sigmla. Alpha Epsilon applied the whitewash to Sigma Phi Epsilon 8-0. Chuck Shirmiester scored the only touchdown when he ran thirty yards to paydirt af- ter intercepting a Sig Ep pass. A safety accounted for the final two points. FUNDAMENTAL in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon success was their fine pass and line defense which allowed the losers to advance with- in the victors' 30 yard line only once. In a second place quarterfinal tilt Zeta Beta Tau squeezed by Sigma Alpha Mu by the margin of an extra point 7-6. The ZBT TD was set up by Stu Winkel- man who raced to his opponents' four yard line before being stop- ped. Then Winkelman threw a pass to Floyd Lesser for the ty- ing points. Another Winkelman heave to Lee Hartzmark accounted for the extra point. All this occurred in the dying moments of the game. The passing of Bill Mathews featured the Delta Tau Delta success over Alpha Delta Phi in a third place playoff meeting. Mathews threw two touchdown passescand two extra point tosses to account for all 14 points in his team's 14-0 victory. Mathews, who was a star end in prep circle in Kentucky, con- nected with Hal Hansen and Whit Sawyer for the six pointers. A pass play which covered 45 yards was the lone score in Sigma Nu's win over Phi Kappa Tau in a fourth place playoff. The prin- cipals in the play were Chuck Kep- ler on the throwing end and Louis Allen on the receiving aspect. Fletcher Tops Tyler To Reach Semi-Finals Michigan, Anderson Prescott Also Win It's Fletcher Hall versus Michi- gan House and Anderson against Prescott in the first place play- offs of Residence Hall Intra- Mural touch football next Monday on South Ferry Field. Fletcher earned the right to rep- present league A's best by racking up a 19-0 win over Tyler House. Al Rotsko and Bill Brenton collabo- rated to provide the scoring punch for the Fletcherites. * * * AFTER GENE AMBO intercept- ed a Tyler pass on the fourth play of the game and ran 15 yards for the score, Brenton snared another Tyler aerial and lateraled to Rotsko, who galloped 30 yards for the touchdown. Rotsko ran for the extra point to make the score at-the half 12-0. On the first play from scrimmage in the second stanza, Rotsko heaved a pass to Brenton on the five yard line where he was tagged immediately. Rotsko then climaxed the scoring on a naked run around left end. Michigan House, sparked by Howard Maturen's brilliant per- formance, advanced into the play- offs with a 31-0 trouncing on im- potent Vaughn House. MATUREN hit end Don Fackler on tosses of 20, 30, and 40 yards to account for three markers, re- turned an intercepted pass for an- 4 i 4 &'99fih lSbomq, I&4d our DRIVE-THRU servic will Perk you Up! Russ Kendal scored the remaining TD on a 20 yard dash after intercepting a pass. Lloyd House utilized the an- cient sleeper play to slip past a stubborn Williams aggregation, 6-0. With the game a stalemate late in the second half, Jim Young pitched to Bob Hunting on the sidelines. Bunting moved through the sur- prised Williams defenders 25 yards to the three yard line. The same pair then teamed up to score the touchdown. Hayden House meets Lloyd in the second place playoffs on the strength of a 13-0 triumph over Chicago House. Although Chicago arrived on the scene of battle ten minutes late, Hayden didn't tarry in scoring. Doug Peck grabbed a Jack Kleinhardt pass early in the first half and scampered 30 yards for six points. Ralph Keifer tossed to Dud Davies to make the score 7-0. Dick Dennis ran 21 yards to ac- count for the final TD. Third, fourth and fifth place playoffs also took place this past week and the field has been cut down to 12 remaining teams. Elim- inations will continue next week to determine the winners in each group. i A Grilled HAM STEAK A La Carte ~1.2 Combination SEA FOOLI DINNER A La Carte 9ac THE JUNGLES HIDE A F/ERC A"DDEADLY IILER- wRIL VAE CI rm T S IDOUS BEASTS !
