Weddings & Engagements Gowans-Field The engagement has been an- nounced of Edith M. Gowans of Edinburgh, Scotland to Arthur Field of Royal Oak. Since last spring Miss Gowans has been administrative assistant in the Office of Student Affairs in charge of assignments to men's residence halls. Mr. Field is a graduate student in the School of Business Admin- istration and the resident advisor of Prescott House in the East Quad. The couple will be married on March 4 in Ann Arbor. Porter-Stremmel Mr. and Mrs. James P. Porter of Ionia have announced the en- gagement of their daughter, Bar- bara Jean, to David H. Stremmel, son of Mr. andsMrs. William H. Meloan of Evanston, Ill. Miss Porter is a graduate of the University. Mr. Stremmel will be graduated in February. He is af- filiated with Acacia and Sigma Delta Chi. * * * Koch-Weaver Mr. and Mrs. Arno Koch of De- troit have announced the engage- ment of their daughter, Vera to Kenneth Weaver, son of Mrs. Sara Ethel Weaver and the late Harry A. Weaver, also of Detroit. Miss Koch is a junior in the literary college and is a member of Alpha Chi Omega. Mr. Weaver is also a junior in the literary college. The spotlight will be taken by Beverly Olszynski during in- termission. Accompanied by Justine Votypka, she will imi- tate Carmen Miranda, Nellie Lutcher, Rose Murphy, Gracie Fields and the Ink Spots. A musical monologue, "The Waltz," written by Dorothy Park- er, will be given by Ginny Rob- inson. To conclude the intermis- sion entertainment the Zeta Psi quartet will offer its renditions of several popular songs. * * * DECORATIONS FOR the dance are based on a strictly academic theme. Black boards will deck the ,alls and blue books, of every description will dangle from the ceiling. Amid a myriad of books a studious ticket collector will greet students as they enter.
