"Santa Claus' fears," said ,Duff, "arise from the reports of his past yuletide frolics and his plans for the future in Ann Arbor which ap- pear in the Gargoyle's present is- sue." * * * "WE'VE DONE some pretty ex- tensive research," added Duff, "and we've come up with some very illuminating facts about San- ta's supposedly pristine activities." Jackie is an example of the thousands of children throughout the nation who contractathe dread disease each year and are helped by the March of Dimes campaign. * *, * IN LINE with the annual tradi- tion of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, The Daily has chosen the little boy to re- present the persons in Ann Arbor who could be aided by the annual Drive. The National Foundation re- cently named eight-year-old Wanda Wiley, Austin, Tex., to be its 1950 March of Dimes pos- ter girl. The wistful face of the little Texas girl soon will become one of the most familiar in the nation. * * * HER PICTURE will appear on posters, coin cards and collection cans throughout the Drive, begin- ning, Jan. 16 and ending Jan. 31, the birthday of its founder, the late President Roosevelt. Like Wanda, who 18 months ago lay on her back almost completely paralyzed, Jackie Warner symbo- lizes the thousands of polio victims throughout the nation. Seminar To Hear Georgian Speak Peyton Jacob, president emeri- tus of Georgia Southwestern Jun- ior College, will discuss "The Jun- ior College Movement" at 7 p.m. today in Rm. 110 of the General Library. The talk will be given before a regular meeting of a graduate seminar in higher education and is open to the public.
