SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1949 Ponhel Boll TIE MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE FIVE To Feature Ray McKinley S Music Annoning /q1 Assembly, Sorority Booths, Decorations To Reflect Theme of Colorful Circus Ring Q Featuring the music of Ray Mc- Kinley and his orchestra, "Peter's Panic," Panhellenic Association's annual ball, will be held from 9 p.m, to 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the I-M Building. In a national poll conducted by Metronome Magazine, McKinley's orchestra proved its popularity by capturing third place. DECORATIONS for the formal dance will be based on a circus theme. McKinley, famed for his performance on the drums, will play from a bandstand designed to represent a musical merry-go- round. Colorful booths, marked by cardboard animals bearing the Greek letters of each sorority, will line the room. Decorations will be completed -by the tradi- tional circus ring, forming a special booth for patrons. In choosing tae name "Peter's Panic," the dance committee has attempted to connect the Fresh Air Camp recipient of all proceeds, will be found peering around booth corners and sitting on the bandstand at the feet of the players. Tickets for "Peter's Panic" will be available to independent as weir as affiliated women. In addition to the sorority booths, an Assembly booth will be pro- vided for independent women and their dates. Central committee for the Pan- hellenic Ball includes: Mary Lou Aspen, general chairman; Beverlyj Dunn, assistant chairman; Mari- lyn Buel, decorations; Barbara Arter, assistant decoration; Tu- lane Itkoff, publicity chairman, and Rennee Pragelmann, assistant publicity. JGP Committees All junior women interested in working on JGP finance or programs committee will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the League. The room number will be posted on the bulletin board. Social Season Inaugerated By Lawyers Law students inaugurated their social season last night with the presentation of the first of the traditional "Saturday Night As- sizes" which are held at the Law- yers Club. The "Assizes" are held regularly from 8:30 p.m. to midnight on Sa- turdays in the Recreation room of the Lawyer's Club. They provide members of the Club with an op- portunity to entertain their dates and guests informally. The "Assizes" feature dancing to recorded music and facilities for playing cards. During the eve- ning refreshments such as cokes, sandwiches and cookies are served. Awards were given to the wo- men's residences with the highest percentage of attendance. Pi Beta Phi and Kleinstuck House won these prizes. In addition to these awards for attendance, other awards were given to the winners of a bridge tournament which was run off in the Grand Rapids Room during the dance. Doris Melleky and Fred Erickson were the winners of this tournament.
