style allowed women. "Always glad
to see any progress in that direc-
tion," he said.
James Howard, '51, gave a more
personal reason for cottoning to
the style-"My wife has one."

The General Library has
planned a new orientation pro-
gram to acquaint some 2,000 fresh-
men and new undergraduate stu-
dents with Library ins and outs.
Most of these students will be
taken on a tour of the Library as
a part of their work in English 1
some time today and tomorrow,
according to Fred Dimock, Chief
Circulation Librarian.
THEY WILL BE shown how to
use the catalogue, how to charge
books, the use of reference guides,
and will be conducted through the
reference and periodical rooms, lhe
said.
During the spring semester,
these same students will be given
a lecture on the use of indexes
and other bibliographical aids,
he added.
Dimock hopes this procedure
will facilitate the student's use of
this material when he needs long
reports and term papers.
If the new program works well,
it will be repeated next year, he
noted.
