Law Schtool,

Library',
Haven Hall's history shows th~e
ancient yellow-brick~ building to
have the usual long anid vaxied
uses of most old university build-
ings.
First constructed in 1883 at the
then tremendous cost of $1500,
the Hall was irnmediately-occupied
by the Law School. The Law
School shared its use with the
General Library, which occupied
the first floor for 20 years until a
general Library building was built.
THE RAPIDLY GROWING Lawi
School soon felt cramped, and ex-
pansion of the building was neces-
sary. In spite of tie 'library's leav-,
ing, the pinch for space was stilll
felt, until 1893.
In that year a< rear section
was added. This provedĀ° inade-
quate, and in 1898 the building.
was almost completely reconl
strutted and enlarged, at a cost
of $30,000. This ended its chain-
ges, and it then hMd the three-
story form familiar' to studlents.
In 1933 the Law School com-
pletely outgrew the struicture, and
moved 'to Hutchins, Hall. The
school's valuable library was moved
in 1929 when the Haven Hall was
judged' unsafe.
