Change Will Become Individual House Can Effective Tomorrow; Retain Old Rule, z A new change in calling hours in women's residences will go into effect tomorrow. The new ruling is, "Men may call at women's residences after 1 p.m. Monday through Friday if the house so desires." No change will be made in the termination of calling hours. THE NEW CHANGE in calling houris was the first example of a rule change passed through the Board of Representatives in the Women's League. The idea was first brought before the Board by four repre- sentatives. A sub-committee was then appointed to work in conjunction with Women's Ju- diciary Council to investigate, change and discuss the new rul- ing with house directors, sorori- ty and league house mothers An" the Dean of Women's Of- After being cleared by these au- thorities, the ruling was brought back to the Board for discussion, voted inon. framed and referred . to individual houses for voting. The vote was almost unanimous with only .25 women opposing the new change. Coed Residence Staffs Will Hold Discussion About Phoenix Project t J Directors, assistant directors and house members of women's residences will meet at 2:30 p.m. iriday, June 9, in the West Con- 4 ference Room of the Rackham Building to learn more concerning the Phoenix Project. The Office of the Dean of Women is sponsoring the meeting and also a tea to be held later in the afternoon. Marvin Lubeck is arranging for a student speaker. Student meetings on the Phoe- nix Project have been abundant, but this is one of the first to be A held which will inform the staffs of the women's residences just what work is involved and the goals of the entire project. With a greater understanding of this worthwhile endeavor, it will be easier to insure co-opera- tion between the faculty, students and administration. .J. Saves Ironing On Vacations Whether the call of the summer means a trip to the far away land of "get away from it all" or mere- ly a jaunt home and a vacation job, the main travel problem to be solved is how to reach one's destination with the least pos- sible wrinkles. True, many of today's materials feature outstanding wrinkle re- sistant qualities. Nevertheless, trunks and suitcases have a way of achieving accordian pleats in even the straightest of straight skirts. A SOLUTION to the problem has been discovered, though, via a new line of luggage which does an outstanding job of resisting the wrinkles.4 Everything from formals to the most casual of sport clothes may be packed in this roomy, but lightweight portable clothes valet. Other features include a special shoe compartment and elasticised pockets for other ac- cessories. For those who cover the con- tinent by auto, a new luggage type of garment bag has been de- vised. When not being used in roving the highways, this clothes companion doubles as a storage bag. * * * GARMENTS may be hung neat- ly on hangers from an iron bar, and shoes and slippers fit nicely into an outside zipper catch-all pocket. With the approaching mass ex- odus from Ann Arbor town, many a campus coed will laugh at the thought of careful packing, but the prospect of the first day of vacation being spent over a hot ironing board is definitely not a cheerful one! BRIDE-TO-BE-Lilias Caroline Wagner's engagement to Robert Leslie Jones has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Phillip Wagner of Ann Arbor. Mr. Jones is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie N. Jones of Chicago. Betsy Barbour Honors Seniors Led by the tantalizing scent of bacon, eggs, and pecan rolls, Betsy Barbourites assembled at 9 a.m. Sunday for their traditional breakfast honoring graduating seniors. As in the past, all the seniors received corsages and the seven women who have lived in the dor- mitoriy for all four years of their college career were specially hon- ored with gifts. With great solemnity, June Freitag read the will of the de- parting seniors. Then *Jo Sugnut read the prophecy of the activi- ties and successes of the Barbour Class of 1950 after several years of being out in the hard, cold world. The festivities came to a close when Eleanor Doersom, " newly elected house president, presented Mrs. Martha Strauss, house moth- er, with a gift.
