These programs are being ad- ministered through the Nation- al Student Association wich will publish t~ pamphlet this spring giving details of thte various plans. Here at the University a limit- ed number of students wil go! abroad under the Literary College Foreign Su~mmer Study Plan. GET'TING accepted, to the for- eign schools is th7e easiest part of the job for 'the American stu- dent. The hitch comes in trying It is easy enough to get to the Canadian or Latin American, educational institutions. But passage to Europe is a different thing. Easiest obtainable, speediest- and most expensive -- is plane transportation to Europe. But boat reservations are pretty scarce. LAST. YEAR the government chartered special ships for stu- But so far this year no spe- cial arrangements have been made' to handle students planning to go abroad. The Institute of International Education recommends that stu - dents wishing shipping space reg- ister with their local travel agency, who will keep them informed on the shipping situation. IN A BULLETIN printed by the Institute it is recommended that students write directly to the for- eign school of their choice for admission. Most of the foreign schools are approved by the Vet.- erans, Administration for studyt under the G.I. Bill. T.ihe Institute says tuition in, foreign schools is generally less than in the U.S. They suggest that the student should allot from $750 to $1,000 to cover all expenses for a summer abroad.j In applying for passports and visas it is advisable for students to have a letter of acceptance to the foreign school of their choice, according to the Institute. Countries containing schools of- fering summer courses include: Canada, Argentina, Chile; Colom - bia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Austria, Belgium, Czechoslo- vakia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Nether- lands, Norway, Portugal,, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
