Phib elts, Sigma Chis Await rternit Sol Te Cas Champions Rally to Wint Finale, 12=5 Williams House easily defeated Prescott House 12-5 on Monday to take the Residence Hall soft- ball championship. Despite the fact that Prescott used four first inning hits to run up three runs, and take a com- manding 3-0 lead, it was not long before Williams took possession of the game, and held it all the way. PITCHER JOHNNY Pielemier, All-Star team hurler for the past two years, was in his usual fine form. Third inning homers by teammates Cliff Fay, shortstop, and Catcher Rus Kendall, made . it even easier for him to oll up another Williams victory. Winner of the second place playoffs was Lloyd House, Resi- dence Hall champions for this year. Lloyd dropped Tyler House 3-2. Tyler, off to an early 2-0 lead, just couldn't seem to score after that, and Lloyd, scor~ing one in the third, another in the fifth, and still another in the sixth, took the game. * * * ONE OF THE DAY'S highlights was the close pitching duel be- tween "Rocky" Smith of Lloyd, and Tyler's Roy Eby. .... ... Richard House took third from Greene House by a 9-7 score. Bruce Agee did Michigan's pitching, and All-Star Right- fielder Chuck Burt the hitting; Burt homered and tripled when hits helped the most. In a high-scoring free-for-all, Anderson House outlasted Win- chell House to win a 15-14 mara- thon. Bernie Fitzgerald of Anderson stole the show, taking down four hits for five trips to the plate. Winning pitcher was Clyde Stras- ler. An easy fifth was Chicago House, tripping Allen - Rumsey House 16-6. Frank Hull handled the pitching chores. Faculty Nines BattleToday This afternoon at 5:30, an un- defeated Romance Langue nine will battle a once-beaten Engi- neering team for the faculty soft- ball championship. John Falconieri, who has pre- viously led the linguists to three straight wins, will probably handle the pitching chores. The second place playoff game between Public Health with a 2-1 record and R.O.T.C., also with a 2-1 slate, has been postponed un- til Thursday, May 26. SCHMIDT had previously tossed a pair of no-hitters, and was ex- pected to check the Sigma Chi big guns. Hadler, however, allowed the losers but three hits in tossing his best game of the season. Sigma Chi had two big in- nings, the first and fifth, when they exploded for three runs each time. The losers picked up single tallies in each of the third and sixth innings. Bill Barkell was the big gun in the winners' attack, blasting out a home run and a triple. 11 - FOR SALE MONEY-SAVERS at SAM'S STORE - Army type foot lockers $9.99 (all taxes included).
