ive the annual Henry Russel Lec-
ure at 4:15 p.m. today in Rack-
lam Amphitheatre.
The honor goes each year to the
aculty member adjudged to have
achieved highest distinction in his
chosen field.

DR. LEWIS, an outstanding
leader in bio-chemistry, pioneered
in research on sulfa compounds
and nutrition.
In recognition of this, he was
last week appointed to the Na-
tional Academy of Sciences.
The Henry Russel Award, which
goes to the instructor or assistant
professor whose achievements and
promise for the future seem great-
est, will be announced following
the lecture.
Dr. Lewis will concentrate in
today's speech on "Chemical De-
fenses of the Body."

Students May Register Now
For H onors Program in Fall

An honors program in politics
and ethics w il give eligible juniors
and seniors an opportunity to do
independent study next semester,
according to Prof. John Arthos, of
of the English department.
Students interested in ithe pro-
gram should apply to Prof. Ar-
thos, 2222 Angen Hall, Pro0. Stan-
ley Dodge, 17 Angetl Hall, or Dean
Peake before May 15.
NEXT FALL the program will
begin its fourth year of operation
since the war. The program was
set up in the literary college in
1939 and was discontinued dur-
ing the war.

Students enrolled in the pro-
gram are formed into groups of
six or eight. The group meets
with its tutor each week, and
each student has a weekly in-
dividual conference, according
to pre-wnt program iplans.
R(adings for next year's pro-
gram include the "Iliad," "The
FRepublic," "Aristotle's Organon,"
and "The Nicomachaean Ethics"
and Augustine's "The City of
God."

gin their junior year next fall and
have a B average.
