By LUCILLE DONALDSON VILLAGE RESIDENTS have settled down to the grind of finals after what for many was a two-week holiday but to others was a period of "catching up." Many who remained in the Village for the vacation used the time for writing term papers and outside reading. Regular routine of group -meetings anti socia! events will get under way tomorrow with the program of the ceramics workshop. Grover Cole, assistant professor of modeling and ceramics of the University, will be guest lecturer. A larger kiln with a muffle of 13 by 13% has arrived from California. Two smaller kilns, made by members of the class, will be ready for use next week. This will make four available to the group. Regular meeting of the second ceramics class will be at 8 p.m. Thursday. *i * * * Election of officers will be the main business at the Tuesday, January 11, meeting of Student Wives Club. The program will be a luncheon demonstration by Fred Beavis of the Detroit division of Sealtest Dairies. He will also show a movie. The slate of candidates includes Mrs. Robert Farr and Mrs.' Melvin May, candidates for presidents Mrs. Roland Gumprechi and Mrs. James W. Ramsey, vice president; Mrs. Adrian Hainline, Jr., secretary, and Mrs. Lyston Jaco and Mrs, Wayne Schoeppacli, treas- urer. The Cosmopolitan Club, a group of foreign and American born wives, will have Miss Marion Wilson, project services supervisor, as guest at their meeting on Jan. 10. She will show slides taken when she served in the Near East and will also play foreign records. Mrs. William Smith and Mrs. William A. Tompkins will be hostesses for the authentic English tea following the program. REVIVALS are nothing new with Strong, who is known as the "young man who sings the old songs," and how he sings them! It all started with his first en- gagement at the Brown Hotel in Louisville when he complied with popular request and sang some of the favorite oldies. Strong was a hit, and soon the entire evening passed, with the maestro singing many times the most requested "Baby Face," "Sweet Georgia Brown" and Mary Lou," which were later to become strong all-time record- ings.
