Freshmen Party e s at To Be Held Today Panhel, Assembly To Introduce Women To League Activities at Informal Event 4 - ~=ism k Children To Be Entertained Freshmen women will be guests at an informal Christmas party which will be given from 3 to 5 .m. today in the League Ball- room. This party is being given by Panhellenic and Assembly Associa- tions to introduce freshmen to activities of the League, and to help them get acquainted with Petitions Due For IFC Ball Petitions for IFC Ball chairman- ships are due at 4 p.m. today in the IFC office of the Union. Six committee chairmanships are open including publicity, dec- orations, houses, booths, programs and tickets. Those who have peti- tioned before need not do so again, according to the general co-chair- men, John Baum and Jake Jacob- son. Petitioners will state which po- sition they are applying for, as well as their specific plans for that committee. The executive council along with the general co-chair- men will meet at 4 p.m. today to pick committee chairmen. members of their own class and upperclassmen. Hostesses have been. chosen from all dormitories, league houses, and Ann Arbor students. Members of the boards of both organizations sponsoring the event will also be hostesses. Entertainment has been planned to suit everyone. Bridge games will be organized. Mrs. Santa Claus in person will be mistress of ceremo- nies at the floorshow. Pat Baum- garten, pianist, and Jean Boos, vo- calist, will be featured. Decorations on the Christmas theme will add to the festive spirit of the party.. Marilyn Flynn and Marie Hed- rick are co-chairmen of the party. Other members of the committee are Jean Boos, refreshments; Bet- ty Jane Auch, decorations; and Shirley Richardson, enter tain - ment, No Ruthven Tea There will not be a Ruthven Tea this week, according to Miss Ethel McCormick, Social Director of the League. The teas, usually held the first andssecond Wednesdays of every month, will resume af- ter Christmas vacation. At IFCChrist Ann Arbor children will be in for a big treat tomorrow when IFC presents its annual Christmas par- ty from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at Hill Auditorium. Santa will be on hand to pass out candy and apples to everyone.! Also celebrities from near and far have been invited to entertain on the program. Newt Loken will give a comedy act on his famous trampolin. Two Christmas stories will be enacted by a dramatic group headed by Pollee Thomson. Their titles are "Rudolph the Red Nosed Rein- masParty deep" and "The Night Before Christmas." Buzz Durant and 20 famous clowns will bring more laughs to the ;youthful audience. The Ann Arbor High School Band will play a program of Christmas carols and marches. Members of IFC who have planned the party this year are: Stan Crapo, chairman of the com- mittee Bruce Lockwood, Jim Ely and George Milray. Over 3,500 children will be en- tertained by the party. It is an IFC function which is traditionally presented at Christmas time. IFC CHRISTMAS PARTY-Jack Waters, posing as Santa Claus at last year's affair, hands out candy and apples to the kids. Tryouts will he divided into three sections: those for speak- ing, dancing and singing parts. T'.e director, bietty Jo Faulk emphasizes the fact that every coed who tries out will be used in the production. Miss Faulk will be in charge of tryouts for speaking parts. Mar- sha Ames will direct dance try- outs. Auditions for singing parts will be given by KatherineMlls and Louise Steele. THOSE JUNIORS who are in- terested only in committee work may attend a mass meeting which will be held Jan. 12 in the League Ballroom. The theme of JGP is kept a secret according to past tradition. The only information which has been released is that it will be a musical satire. The Junior (irk'F Play is a tra- diion which w as started in 1904. Originally it va. performed owly once for senior women following the senior supper. In 1923.
