Engineers Sell Out Tickets For Tonight's Slide Rule Bal Tickets for Slide, Rule -Bali, which will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. tonight at the Masonic Temple, have been sold out. Annually given by the Michigan Technic, this all-campus dance commemorates the rivalry be- tween the lawyers and the en- gineers. According to custom, students in the Law School are barred from the dance because of their Lawyers Hold Wig and Robe Ball at Union A legal atmosphere will prevail at the Union tonight when the Barristers' Society takes over to present its annual Wig and Robe Ball from 9 p.m. to midnight. Music for the semi-formal dance will be provided by Frank Tinker and his orchestra. Contributing to the legal theme will be walls lined with carica- tures of past barristers and ticket takers dressed in the traditional wig and robe fashion. Programs too will follow the theme in the form of old scripts written in the court room style. Excluding engineers, the dance will be open to all. Dress for the affair will be formal for women and either dress or dark business suit for men. Tickets are on sale at the Law School in the corridors between classes and in the Law Club. They may also be purchased from members of the Barristers Society. The balcony will be converted intoa. miniature Ar- boretum for foot-weary couples. Refreshments will be available in the cafeteria. Bob Strong and his orchestra will supply music with that "strong" appeal. Hywanna and Bill De Maria will be featured vocalists. Eddie Paul's singing will be a featured attraction. *, * * INTERMISSION entertainment will feature the hilden talents of many a professor in the Engineer- ing College. A barbershop quartet, a juggler, and an Abbott and. .Costello comely act will be un- earthed beneath the grim facades of professorial dignity. Names of these gentlemen, however, will not be revealed until the 'floorshow takes place. Soph Cabaret Coeds are needed to work on the special booths of Soph Cabaret from. 8 p.m. to mid- night, Dec. 10 and 11, accord- ing to Patricia Breon, special booths chairman. Interested women may sign up in the Un- dergraduate Office of the League. Paul Bunyan Will Arriv e Next M onth "Where is that great big, hairy chested man?" Paul Bunyon, mighty north- woods patron of the "Paul Bun- yon Formal," will be a little late this year. Warm weather hasn't agreed with Big Paul since the war days when he was compelled to work in the South, and upon hearing that Ann Arbor was having an unusually warm fall, he asked the Foresters' Club to postpone their dance from Dec. 4 to Jan. 8. THE LEGENDARY woodsman, from Wisconsin or Minnesota, suffered unbearably from the heat when he took to the South to help keep the timber rolling for the armed forces. It seemed that things kept getting in his hair, mainly the heat. Patriotically, he stuck it out during the war emergency, but only by daily chest shaving. The cost of these daily shaves with special two by four razor blades became immense but, un- daunted, he defrayed expenses by selling the hair for use in stuff- ing mattresses. THE BLOW came when the mattress scions found out that the Bunyon hair mattresses was sol tough that the depreciation of beds was too great. So the mat- tress men shifted back to regular stuffing material. Minus his miattr ess l ii mi- nopoly, Bunyon can't afford razor blades, so he is now back in his own northern territory.l Chairman Enniss says the cold snap this week is a good sign. Paul has promised to send two of his less hairy companions down after the first freeze to help with, ticket sales.
