YG a SUMMER SESSION PLAN: Students of French, Spanish May Have Separate Houses Separate houses for French and Spanish students may be set up for the 1949 summer session. If demand warrants it, two houses in Which students may live, study, and hold social af- fairs in their adopted languages will be organized. THE DIRECTOR of the Sum- mer Session, the Romance lan- guages department and the Dean of Women are cooperating to put the plan into effect. In its first summer since the war, the "Casa Espagnole-Maison Francaise" was the center of ac- tivities both for its residents and for other men and women who took their meals there. *B*P * t BESIDES SPEAKING nothing but their chosen foreign lan- 'uage from the moment they en- tered the house, students got a 2hance to increase their fluency at numerous social events. Students living in the Maison Francaise got an insight into the customs and spirit of the French people with a July 14 celebration of the French inde- pendence day-Bastille Day. Any woman who has had train- Mng-however much or little-in Trench and Spanish is eligible to take part in the program. * * * THOSE INTERESTED in a sep- arate French or Spanish house during the eight-week summer session may consult the office of the Dean of Women now to ob- tain detailed information. BECAUSE of the war, Curzon had to forego a concert tour of America scheduled after a bril- liant New York debut early in 1939. Curzon made his "second de- but" in this country late last fall playing with the New York Philharmonic-Symphony under Dimitri Mitropoulos at Carnegie Hall. Critics were unanimous in their praise of his performance, which earned him the present tour. Born in London in 1907, Curzon began his musical career at the early age of five.
