The race for the Inter-Frater - nity touch football crown will go into the quarter-final lap next Tuesday, when the winners of the nine preliminary groups start battling each other. Two preliminary playoffs are yet to be played before Tuesday. THE CHI PHI'S meet a power- packed Sigma Phi Epsilon aggre- gation Sunday morning, and Sig- ma Alpha Mu, unscored upon thus far, comes up against Alpha Tau Omega this afternoon at Fer- ry Field in what promises to be a thriller. Al Weiss, Lee Fisher, Milt RSiegel and Mort Golde were the Sammie big guns. Beta Theta Pi and Chi Psi will meet each other in the quarter- final opener as a result of their victories this week.rEach asserted its superiority by decisive mar- gins. THE MOST exciting of Tues- day's tussles will no doubt be that between Theta Xi and the winner of the Sammie-Alpha Tau Omega playoff. Using a man in motion with great effectiveness in their deceptive offense, Theta Xi baf- fled Phi Sigma Delta to win, 20-6. In another quarter-final match, Sigma Alpha Epsilon will meet the winner of the Chi Phi-Sigma Phi Epsilon playoff. IN THE HIGHEST scoring game of the week, Phi Kappa Psi trounced Triangle, 40-0. George Sandenburg intercepted a blocked pass in the first play of the game and ran the ball for a touchdown. This set the mode of the game as two more Triangle passes were intercepted for pay-dirt. This win put them in the run- ning to play Sigma Chi, which nosed out a powerful Alpha Phi Alpha team, 6-0. The winner of this match will take on Phi Delta Theta which drew a bye. r._________________________ Residenice... The Residence Halls Touch Football League is well under way after two weeks of activity, with most of the dormitory teams hav- ing already played at least one or two of their scheduled games. The league has been divided into four sections, with the winners of each section meeting, finally, in a playoff to decide the Residence Hall championship. WENLEY HOUSE is leading League A in the win column with two victories over Adams and Michigan. Greene House holds second place with- a decisive 28-0 win over Adams, while Michigan House is in third position with their one loss and one victory over Cooley. In league B, it's Anderson House in the lead with a 13-8 victory over Hayden and a 12-6 win over Tyler. LEAGUE C is led by Allan-Rum- sey and Lloyd, who sport triumphs over Fletcher and Prescott re- spectively, in their only attempts of the season. Prescott's defeat of Vaughan, and Vaughan's win over Fletcher permits those two teams to hold a temporary second place. Williams House and Strauss House are deadlocked in a first place tie in League D, by virtue of victories over Winchell and Hinsdale. Fraternity... By BILL CONNOLLY While the Beta Theta Pi house was rejoicing after running home with the Inter -Fraternity track title, members of Phi Gamma Delta were busy congratulating one of their brothers who stole the show at yesterday's meet. The Betas, who grabbed three firsts, ran up a total of 21 points, just one and a half points more than the second place Phi Gams. Chi Psi took third with 16%/, DU was fourth with 8%. * * * THE MEET LOOKED like a Phi Gam victory in its early stages, but the Betas jumped into the fry- ing pan and threw the Phi Gams into the fire by taking a first in the 880, and clinching it with a fourth in the lows, the last two events of the meet. John Lindquist, started the Fijis on the road to what looked like victory by sprinting to a rec- ord-breaking first in the high hurdles.
