VY K771048THE MICHIGAN DAILY Independents' Cage Tourney In Full Swing Twenty-four teams swung into action in the Intramural Inde- pendent Basketball tournament last week with six remaining un- defeated. The Irish A.C. rolled over the Michigan Daily 30 to 19 and the Foul Balls 40 to 11 while the Mis- Fits compiled convincing wins over the Michigan Christian Fellowship 86 to 10 and the Dodgers 37 to 26. Hillel took two by forfeit, from Delta Chi Independents and the Phys. Eds. The Red Devils also took a forfeit from Delta Chi as well as defeating the Goosers 31 to 29 in a very close game. The Newman Club defeated the City Slickers38 to 18 and Robert Owen Co-op 40 to 18 while Michi- gan Co-op trounced the Mis-Fits No. 2, 30 to 22 and the Hucksters 30 to 19., ART CINEMA LEAGUE and SWF present HITCHCOCK'S r "THE LADY VANISHES" Paul Lukas Margaret Lockwood Michael Redgrave SUN., MON., 8:30 P.M. Chi Psi's Jim Deremo made 121 field goals, two short of the I-M record, and one foul shot for a 25 point total, while his fraternity brother, John Picard, tallied' 21 points. Beta Theta Pi, reputed to this year, trod heavily on Zeta Beta Tau with a 55-53 victory. Kappa Sigma, defeated last week by Sigma Phi Epsilon, rose to crush Theta Delta Chi with a score that read 48-21. Dave Lake and Lou Brunsting each netted 12 points to help put Chi Phi in the winning post over Theta Xi with a 49-23 victory. The two point advantage that Phi Psi held over Sigma Phi Ep- silon at half-time was enough for the game. Each team added 18 points to a half time score of 14-12 to close 32-30. Gene Estes' 10 points was high for Phi Psi, while Ross Herron made 13 for Sigma have one of the better teams Phi Epsilon. Theta Chi's, DKE's Phi Psi'sTriumph Phi Delta Theta was led by Jack Weisenburger who netted 14 points in their 63-14 defeat of Pi Lambda Phi. Theta Chi man- aged to come from the short end of a 12-7 half-time score to squeeze out Sigma Alpha Mu 18-17. Delta Kappa Epsilon turned on Phi Sigma Kappa for a thorough 46-13 chewing. Forfeit Confusion Stalls Water Polo Fraternity water polo race stag- nated last week when SAE failed to receive notice of their quarter finals match with Chi Psi. The game was entered as a for- feit on the records, but SAE pro- tested and I-M officials agreed that the game should be resched- uled for this week. In other water polo games last week Delta Upsilon fought to a 4-2 victory over Sigma Chi; Chi Psi beat Psi Upsilon 4-0, and Sigma Phi Epsilon discouraged Phi Del- ta Theta .3-0. This means that DU, Chi Psi, and Sig Ep with the winner of the Chi Phi-SAE game will enter the semi finals next week.
