Brumm, chairman of the journalism department now; on retirement furlough, will be honored by the department at a special convocation tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Room E, Haven Hall. Chairman of the journalism de- partment since 1928, Prof. Brumm received both his A.B. and A.M. degrees from the University in, 1904 and 1906 respectively. Start- ing as an instructor in rhetoric in 1905, he advanced to the position of professor of rhetoric and jour- nalism. 'U' Press Club Under his leadership, the social sciences were given recognition and emphasis in journalistic stud- ies. The University Press Club of Michigan was organized by Prof. Brumm in 1918 and he served as its secretary until last year. Prof. Brumm is also the author of a number of plays. Among the best known of these are "The Strait-Jacket," a 3-act tragedy, and "Scrambled Ego," a one act comedy. Popular Toastmaster Popular as a toastmaster in academic and business organiza- tions throughout the United States, Prof. Brumm has also lec- tured for the University Exten- sion Service and is active in re- ligious and political activities. Tkad Prints To Cost 5 Cents A fine of five cents a day will be charged for all art prints which are returned after Friday, Mrs. Ella Wilkinson, University secre- tary in charge of art prints, warned yesterday. Art prints will also be available for rent during the summer ses- sion, Mrs. Wilkinson indicated. During registration week the prints will be on display in the West Gallery of Alumni Memorial Hall, and they may be signed out during the first week of classes. Forty new art prints have been added to the collection with the money taken in, in rental fees this semester..
