Seven Man Squad Bert Katzenmeyer will field a seven man squad for the non- 'onference affair. With the middle of the Big Nine season about to arrive, Katzenmeyer will display the combination that he will de- pend on to defend the Conference Title captured last year. Captain Ed Schalon and Pete Elliott will team up in the first foursome. Both golfers have been shooting amazing golf keeping Old Man Par on the run all spring., Barclay Returns Dave Barclay will return to the lineup for the MSC match and tour the links with Rog Kessler. Doug Beath and Chuck Mac- Callum will get together in the third foursome with Ken Berke teeing off in the seventh position. Although the Spartans have had trouble finding a winning ,ombination this year, they are expected to throw plenty of good golfers against the Wolverines. With the Big Nine Titlist and NCAA Champion swinging for Michigan against the natural cross state rival, the match should prove a thriller for the spectators. Sports Round-up CLEVELAND, May 1-(')-The Detroit Tigers today halted the Cleveland Indians' early season winning streak at six games, beat-, ing the Tribesmen, 10 to 3, for their first loss of the year. The tall right-hander held the visitors from Columbus scoreless for eight and two thirds innings, but faltered slightly in the top of the ninth when the Bucks shoved * * across two runs. O, May 1- The victory march of Michigan's junior varsity golf squad came to an abrupt halt today when the Wolverines fell victim to the more experienced Bowling Green Var- sity, 20-7, on the Falcons home course. Michigan was able to salvage only one of the six individual matches and one of the three best ball events in this fruitless quest for consecutive victory number three. Jerry Weiler continued to lead his Wolverine teammates as he bounded over the 18 holes in 74 strokes, to win the first singles match from Merideth Davis, the Falcon's number one man who re- corded a 79. Moe Seiple of Bowling Green walked off with medalist honors, by virtue of his blazing 72, three strokes in front of Keith LeClaire. A bare two stroke margin separ- ated Chuck Hunter and John McCloy with the former posting a 76. Bill Telfer's 79 and Harvey Jones' 81 were not enough to out do the Ohioans John Hersland and Paul Schader in the nos. 4 and 5 singles matches. In the fin- al individual contest Bob Keiser, with an 80, was bested by two strokes by Hooper Jones. I- Major League Standings S AMERICAN LEAGUE W. L. Yet. GJ. Dick Magato started for the Ohioans but failed to go the route, giving way to Dick Hess, a port- sider, in the seventh when Mich- igan shoved across its last, and what proved to be the winning,' run. Two-Run Sixth The Maize and Blue picked up the first two runs in the sixth on three hits and a passed ball by Norbert Ranz, State's receiver. Taft and Elliott went out on! flies to the outfield, but Ralph Morrison drilled a single to right center to start things off. Ted Kobrin stepped into the first pitch and sent a hot skipper into center, sending Morrison to third. Jack Weisenburger followed with a sharp ground ball that sped by the infielders, scoring Morri- son and pushing Kobrin to third. Weisenburger, who banged out two hits, took second on the throw in. Kobrin Scores Magato's first offering to Howie Wikel slipped out of Ranz's glove and rolled to the backstop, al- lowing Kobrin to score and Weis- enburger to go to third. Wikel went out, short to first, to end. the uprising. Bob Chappuis started the ball rolling in the seventh with a ground single through the box. "Chap" raced around to third on a single to left by Taft, and scored on a TexasLeague single by Elliott. Elliott's hit spelled finis for Magato and Hess came to the rescue, getting Paul Veith, who batted for Morrison, to sky out.
