I should like to commend The Michigan Daily for its in- itiative and interest in spon- soring this 100 - yard dash event. The sole source of var- sity athletic teams ought to be from just such student compe- titions. Certainly they're fun for everyone and should stim- ulate increased interest in sports generally. Why not extend the compe- tition toward an all campus field day with three-legged races, handicap races, fat man's races, etc? They were fun 30 years ago. Why not in 1949? Again my congratulations. It was well handled and very much worth while. -Ken Doherty.
