This meet is expected to bring a large turnout from University students, many of whose old school colors will be flashing around the track this afternoon and evening. The day's activities will start in the morning at 10:00 with a coaches meeting until noon. Then at 1:00 p.m. the preliminaries will commence. Preliminaries in the high jump, pole vault, and shot put will run all afternoon, with the high and low hurdles being run from 1:00 until 3:30 and the 60 yard dash going from 3:30 until the end of the preliminaries at 4:30. Finals in the medley relays, consisting of an 880, 440, 660 and 4 mile run in that order, will take place at 3:00, 3:30, and 4:00 for Classes A, B, C and D com- bined, respectively. This event will be run outdoors. From 4:30 until 6:00 there will be a break in the day's activity while the officials eat and the track is prepared for the eve- ning's finals. Next Wednesday afternoon on Ferry Field, some unsuspecting male undergraduate buzzing around Michigan, heretofore an unknown among unknowns, will be rocketed into fame, glory, and a position of property. Perhaps a victory in The Daily sponsored all-campus 100 yard dash event will be the culmina- tion of years of preparatory work by some future Jesse Owens. Owens Smashed Three In fact, it was thirteen years ago this very month, that during the staging of the Big Ten Out- door Track Championships here in Ann Arbor, Jesse Owens ran! off with three world's records and matched the existing universal ' dash mark of 9.4 seconds. Jesse's record smashes were cinched when he slashed .3 sec- Louise Suggs In Golf Finals PINEHURST, N.C., April 16- (A')--National Champion houise Suggs of Atlanta and Grace Lenc- zyk of Newington, Conn., today moved to the finals of the 46th Annual North and South Wom- en's Golf Tournament. That Jesse Owens could have easily run away with the 100 yard event instead of tying is almost a certainty if he had seen the beautiful Michigan Daily Trophy now on display in a State street bookstore's window. Trophy Goes to Winner In addition to the trophy grac- ing the wining organization's mantle come next Wednesday evening, be it fraternity, dormi- tory, independent, or rooming house, the first twelve men to break the tape will be sporting shiny new medals, emblematic of their achievement. Determination of the organiza- tion winner will be by awarding the first place winner twelve points, second place man eleven, and so on down the line. In ad- dition, each house will receive one point for each of a maximum of twelve contestants. The group, then, boasting the most individual points will be awarded the trophy. Once again, entries should be phoned into the main office at the Intramural Building, tele- phone 8109, or delivered in per- son to that office. It is later than you think! 'M' Club ToPlani, Michigras Booth Plans for Michigras will be the chief order of business at Tues- day's 'M' Club meeting, according to an announcement by Dom To- masi, club president. This and other important club business will be discussed and To- masi urged that all members at- tend. The meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the 'M' Club room in Yost Field House. (Special to The Daily) IOWA CITY, Iowa, April 16- Thanks to eleven bases on balls by a wild Hawkeye hurler Mich- igan walked to their first Con- ference win in the Big Nine open- er defeating Iowa 5-2 at Iowa City this afternoon. Art Dole went the route for the Wolverines, allowing eight hits. Dole, however, spaced the blows well and only two singles fig- ured in the Iowa scoring. The Wolverines took the lead in the fifth when Dom Tomasi doubled and scored a moment later when Iowa's third sacker Kafer bobbled Chappuis' ground- er. In the sixth Ted Kobrin's two base wallop sent Vieth across the plate after the latter had walked. Bruner Chased The Wolverines picked up in- surance in the ninth when Bruner opened the frame by passing Vieth and Kobrin. Jack Weisen- burger then slapped out a single to score Vieth and send the Iowa moundsman to the showers. Wes Demro replaced him. Wikel sacri- ficed both runners and Kobrin scored on Tomasi's fly ball. Coach Fisher plans to send Ed Heikkiten to the hill tomorrow in an endeavor to sweep the series. MARSHALL'S Cut Rate L~Ae .. Yorgetltin that there ever was such a thing as spring va- cation, Oosterbaan has sched- uled a six day week for his gridders that'awill keep them hard at work for five weeks. Believing that the only way to find out about each man's abil- ity is to actually let him play ball, the coach has already started heavy scrimmaging. Though other activities have kept out many of last year's stars, the squad has started to take form. A group of nearly thirty men is working directly under Oosterbaan while another larger group composed mainly of last year's frosh team is under the direction of Wally Weber. With the potency of a good ae'ial ofense so well proven by last year's Rose Bowl squad, Oosterbaan has started his search for a replacement for BobChappuis. Yesterday's two hour drill placed heavy empha- sis on the airways. Bill Bartlett, transferee from the Naval Academy. lived up to advance notices also working from quarterback position.
