Circus Comes To Slide Rule Trapeze artists, balancing ex- perts and the 'big top' itself will transform the Intramural Build- ing into a full blown circus for the annual Slide Rule Ball to be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. today. Red and white streamers will fill the ceiling simulating a cir- cus tent. The traditional giant slide rule will hold a make-believe engineer balancing with T- squares, triangles and blue prints at one end. At the opposite end will be another engineer playing 'man-on-the-flying-trapeze.' Intermission entertainment will feature the final revelation of Mr. Shh's identity. Five couples will be selected from the dancers to come to the bandstand to guess his identity. Hints will be given which will increase as the guessers near solution. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Bobby Sherwood and his or- chestra will play for thehdance. Sherwood has been playing at hotels and theatres throughout the country and over the Colum- bia and Mutual Networks on the radio. Tickets for the dance are still available in the West Engineering Arch, East Engineering Lobby, University Hall, Union and League. Though sponsored for en- gineers by the Michigan Technic the dance is open to all students. Late permission until 1:30 a.m. has been granted for all women attending the dance. Ticket Sale for Assembly Ball Continues; Winner Qiven Booth Ont4e J4ote Rivalry Ends At Traditional Tickets for Assembly Ball will be on sale from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday morning at the University Hall ticket booth and in the League. To the winner of the ticket sales competition goes the Queen of Hearts booth. It will be an extravaganza of golden hearts and flowers and will hold a place of honor among the booths that will be present for League houses. Guests of As- sembly will be provided with a No Trump booth. "Heart Bid" is to be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday in the Intramural Building, and will feature music by the "Heartaches" maestro," Ted Weems. Accom- panying the 11-piece orchPestra will be vocalist Shirley Richards, saxophonist Glenn Martin and Billy Blair with his novelty num- bers. Weems' sensational whistler, Elmo Tanner, will be on hand to give out several of the war- bling numbers that made him famous, along with various new ones that have been bringing him tremendous ovations. The music promises to be just what the doctor ordered; sweet and sentimental to fit the mood of the dancers, and then hot and low-down when the mood becomes too dangerous. In addition there are two all campus formals and the ATO Blackfoot Ball. The Theta's will honor their pledges at a formal dinner dance from 7:30 p.m. to midnight today. Following the dinner at the Allenel, guests and their dates will return to the house to dance to the music of Ed Morehous and his orchestra. The affair will follow a spring theme with flowers and picket fences in the way of decorations. There will be programs and favors. The American Legion ballroom will be transformed into a garden today when the Phi Gains present their annual Spring Pledge Formal. Flowers, pussy willows, forsythia and other greens will form the decorations. Music for dancing will be furnished by Al Chase and his band. Pledge formals are on the agenda for the Chi O's, and Sorosis this weekend. Following a dinner at Smith's the Chi O's will take over the Wolverine Den to dance to Tom McNall's orchestra featur- ing Jackie Ward as vocalist. Art Starr and his band will be featured at the Sorosis house to provide dance music for the guests when they return from dinner at the Allenel. "I4IG EP FELONS and their molls, fresh from eight weeks in stir," will celebrate at a 'Parole Party,' from 8:30 p.m. to midnight to- day. Mood music will be furnished by Stu Franckie's Frantic Four. Gamma Phi's have chosen Johnny Harberd and his orchestra to play for their spring pledge formal "April Showers." The evening will begin with a dinner at the Union followed by a dance at the house. Decorations will consist of clouds, rainbows and flowers that bloom in the spring. The SAE's will honor their pledges at a formal dinner-dance to- morrow. Ken Norman and his orchestra will play for dancing in a spring atmosphere with flowers forming the decorations. Guests will receive leather compacts and orchids for favors. "Carousel," a pledge formal, will be given by Zeta Tau Alpha today. The dance will be based on a circus theme. Guests will first have dinner at the Union, returning to the house to dance to the music of Lee Stuart. Pledge paddles will be given as fa- vors. The flower bedecked Phi Sigma Kappa house will be the scene of the annual spring pledge formal tomorrow. Guests will receive pro- grams with flowers attached as favors. Chuck Meyers will play for dancing. Delta Gamma will entertain their pledges at an informal dance given from 9 p.m. to midnight tomorrow. Music for dancing will be furnished by Bill Hemline and his orchestra. L CHASE and his orchestra will be featured at the Sigma Nu in- formal pledge dance tomorrow. A dinner at the house will precede the affair. Delts and dates will be in "heaven" this weekend as they celebrate an "After Death" party. Guests will come dressed as the sort of person they some day hope to be. This might promise to be very interesting! The Nu Sigma Nu house will be converted into a huge golf course for the annual spring formal tomorrow. The ballroom will take the shape of a large green, complete with sandtraps and water hazard. A new "golfers delight" punch will be served. Tennis Club Sponsors Meet An all campus women's doubles, a closed women's singles and a closed mixed doubles will be sponsored by the Tennis Club of the Women's Athletic Association. Entrants for the women's doubles, which will be open to all coeds on campus, must sign the entry sheet posted on the bulletin board in Blackfoot Ball Over a half a century of hearty rivalry and friendly competition between ATO and Sigma Nu will be climaxed from 9 p.m. to mid- night tonight in the Union at the ATO's annual Blackfoot Ball. ATOs from every chapter in the state will hold their annual "peace" with the various state Sigma Nu chapters, who have also been invited. Other special guests will be presidents of fra- ternities, sororities, and dormi- tories, editors of campus public- cations and campus leaders. Music for the blackfooters' will be presented by the Union maestro, Frank Tinker.
