he NCAA basketball championship tonight by overwhelming Baylor,
58-42, before 16,174 fans at Madison Square Garden.
The smart, sharpshooting boys from the bluegrass country suc-
ceeded Holy Cross' Crusaders, who triumphed over Kansas State, 60-
54, in a preliminary consolation game for third place.
Kentucky and Baylor may meet again this s4easoni since both

out to be the "punch of the night."
Outstanding Fight
Two very clever ring craftsmen,
Larry Hetrick and Mark Abend,
put on the outstanding fight of
the evening in the 175-pound class.
Hetrick, confident throughout the
match, stalked his faster adver-
sary and landed often enough with
his right to win the decision.
Varsity wrestler Byron Dean de-
feated Morrie Koblenz in the 135-
pound class. Like Harrison it was
Dean's second I-M championship
and also at a heavier weight.
Wins Unanimously
Dave Ruetenik was on the of-
fensive throughout his bout with
Jim Edberg in the 145 pound divi-
sion but didn't land as hard or as
often. Edberg won the unanimous
decision.
Terry Brille was declared the
165 pound champion when Jerry
Weingeart was unable to fight due
to an I-M basketball game. Infec-
tion in Al Wahl's hand caused the
calling off of the heavyweight
bout.

Phi Kappa Psi edged out
Lambda Chi Alpha, 29-26, to
take the fraternity basketball
crown. In the dorm league,
Vaughan House staved off a
last quarter Wenley House rally
to win 34-28.
The Mis-Fits defeated the New-
man Club 31 to 29 in the Indepen-
dent tourney finals with the help
of two overtime periods. Bob Rit-
cheske sunk the winning basket
in a sudden-death overtime after
contributing the free-throw that
tied up the first overtime.
In the fraternity swimming fi-
nals, Phi Delta Theta garnered 26
points to take the title, and Chi
Phi was second with 20 markers.
The Beta's, Sigma Chi, and Zeta
Psi tied for third place.
All-Campus championships in
wrestling were decided in 8
weight divisions. Winners were
Hill in the 121-pound match,
who pinned Ruskin; Lamb de-
feated Stirdivant, 6-2, in the
128-pound division; Sligh won
over Prior in the 136-pound
class, and Marshall won in the
145-pound match in 40 seconds
of the second period by fall.
Herrigel pinned Linck in 52 sec-
onds of the first period to take,
the 165-lb. title. O'Connell won
the 155-pound crown in 43 sec-
onds of the first period.
Brunsting edged Hunsberger, 6-
5, for the 175-pound title in a
well-fought match. Barney pinned
Maple in the second period to
take the unlimited weight all-
campus championship.
