Military Ball Offers Music By Bob Strong Bob Strong, the versatile music maker from Kansas, will make his second appearance on campus this year at the 28th annual Military Ball, to be presented from 9 to 1 p.m. Saturday. Open ticket sales for the event, sponsored jointly by the ROTC and the NROTC are now being held at University Hall ticket booths, at both Military and Naval Headquarters and local bookstores. Strong, whose initial radio popularity was a stepping stone to later fame as a dance band, is one of the increasing number of "educated" modern musici- ans. Having graduated from Wichita College of Music, he worked his way through Kansas State with a campus band, de- veloping a composing and ar- ranging skill that soon put his music on Chicago airways. From his lively beginning in ra- dio Bob jumped to top bookings in hotels all over the nation, with his mastery increasing every year. He now plays six instruments with an equal degree of skill. This year's Military Ball will reinstitute the custom of dis- tinct entertainment provided by manual movements of drill squads. The newly reorganized "Pershing Rifles" will perform a silent platoon drill during inter- mission. Uniforms will be the order of the night but formal wear will also be correct. Decorations are as yet unrevealed, but will be designed to uphold the colorful traditions of previous military balls. Women at- tending the dance will have 1:30 p.m. permission.
