Twelve spark- Couples Hail Date Bureau As Success By JEAN RUSS Last semester Assembly Associa- tion decided that a campus cupid was needed, someone to help the opposite sexes get acquainted with each other; thus "Ice-Break- ers" the Assembly-sponsored blind date bureau was born. Under the direction of Bar- bara Ballantine, registration for the bureau was held in the League lobby All those inter- ested in blind dates were asked to sign up and to state their preferences as to the type of date they would prefer. Despite the 3 to 1 ration on campus men continued to be par- ticular. Blondes and red-heads seemed to be favored over bru- nettes. One fellow even asked for a girl who could Delphoi. The girls, on the other hand, with their numerical advantage were shy and reticent and did not seem to care what kind of man they got so long as they got one. A week after registration the men who had signed up were given two names of girls who had registered. If these did not work out they were allowed to come back for two more. From all evidences "Ice-Break- ers" was a success. To attest to this is an engaged couple who met through the bureau. In a state- ment of the effectiveness of "Ice- Breakers" they declared that their first million would be donated to estblish branches in other col- leges all over the country.
