3, 1947' TME ICHIGAN DAILY ' Soph Cabaret Staff To Explain Committee Functions at Meeting 'Court' Dance STickets on Sale LeagueAppointmentsAnnounced At Diag, Arch :y _ A mass meeting for all soph- omore women interested in work- ing on Soph Cabaret will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the League Ballroom. Complete details of each com- mittee's work and how it will be carried out will be outlined by chairmen of the various commit- tees. "Approximately 400 coeds are needed to work on Soph Cab- aret this year in the different aspects of production," Joyce Atchison, general chairman of the Cabaret, reported. She also emphasized that the informa- tory meeting will be as brief as possible. Preference cards will be dis- tributed at the close of the meet- ing in order that women may in- dicate the special committees on which they want to participate. These cards will be turned over to the general chairman who will as- sign members to the committees, trying to follow the indicated choices. Coeds who petitioned for com- mittee chairmen last year are es- pecially urged to attend the meet- ing, according to Shirley Kallman, publicity chairman. If any girl is unable to attend the mass meet- ing, she may sign up for a com- mittee on the sophomore bulletin board in the Undergraduate Of- fice in the League during the fol- lowing week. Scheduled dates for the Soph Cabaret are Dec. 5 and 6 making it the first similar production tc run the full week-end in several years. The annual campus event is written, directed, and produced by sophomore women and fi- nanced by class dues to be col- lected later in the fall. Proceeds go toward a project decided on by the central committee of the Cab- aret. The entire second floor of the League will be taken over for the Soph Cabaret weekend."'In addi- tion to the two floor shows a night, which will be presented in Lydia Mendelssohn Theater, there will be an orchestra in the ball- room for dancing during the en- tire evening. A games' room, mix- er, refreshments and special booths are other features of the event. They are all focused about a central theme, which is also carried out in the decorations. Miss Ethel McCormick and Mrs. Ione Hendrian are assisting in the production of the Soph Cabaret. A business board and floor- show committee are the main divisions of the cabaret. The central chairman, Miss Atchi- son, is assisted by Jo Henderson. Other members of the business staff include Barbara Siebut, secretary; Mary Wilson, assist- ant secretary; Shirley Kallman, publicity chairman, with assist- ants Jean Hendel and Betty de Guise working on the skits and. posters. Others are Edith An- drew, finance chairman and as- sistant Joan Shepherd, who will collect the class dues; Marjorie Metzger, ticket chairman and her assistants, Marie Hendrick and Pat Lewis. staff on the floorshow committee are Gale Huntington, chairman, and Ann Rogers, newly appointed assistant chairman; Eva Galt and Virginia Jo Veig in charge of the script; Shirley Osgood, stage man- ager and Jo Chapel, assistant stage manager.
