THE MICHIGAN -DAILY TUSA t, Abbot Reveals Broadcasting Appointments Ed Burrows, former program director of WPAG, will begin Jan. 12 as new program director of the University Broadcasting Service, Prof. Waldo Abbot, director of the service, announced yesterday. Burrows, who received an M.A. degree and a Hopwood award here in 1940, has also held positions with stations WENA-F'M, Detroit, and WICC, New Haven. Meanwhile John Carroll, pro- duction director of the Broadcast- ing Service during the past semes- ter, has resigned that post to be- come production and special events director of station WHRV. As part of his new job, Carroll will arrange the broadcasting over a national network of campus sports and social events. Jim Schiavone, of the Broad- casting Service staff, will take the post vacated by Carroll. Schia- vone, who has formerly been con- nected with WPAG and WFDF, Flint, now directs the Union and League-sponsored "Campus Quar-1 ter" brogram. Dkon Herman, '49, will now an- nounce the Sunday morning "Hymns of Freedom" program, in place of Schiavone.- oneAct Plays To Be Given A bill of four one-act plays will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursday in Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, as Play Production's first offering of the new year. The program will include an original play by Francis Bysarz, "Lucky at Cards," which was writ- ten for an English course. Other plays on the bill are Anton Chek- hov's "The Boor," the first act of "Ice-Bound" by Owen Davis, and Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Aria de Capo." A first come, first served policy will be followed regarding seats. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and will close at 8 p.m. There are no reserved seats and nobody will be admitted after the curtain goes up. Admission is free. Elections Tomorrow .
