O- M: 14z 4jjf U Sale of Tickets For 'Side Street Wil Commence Annual Soph Cabaret Open to Campus; Floorshow Will Be Featured at Event To Be Held in League Friday, Saturday Soph Cabaret ticket sales for "Side Street," which will be pre- sented from 8 p.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday in the Weddings& Engagements Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Quail of Pleasant Ridge have announced the engagement of their daughter, Jane Kemp, to Smith B. Atwood, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Smith B. Atwood of Jefferson City, Mo. Miss Quail and Mr. Atwood are1 seniors in the literary college and will graduate in June. Miss Quail is a member of Delta Delta Delta and Scroll. Her fiance is affiliated with Sigma Nu fraternity. The marriage will take place next fall. - * Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Noel Crossley of Toledo announce the coming marriage of their daugh- ter, Charlotte, to Kenton Edwin Winter, Jr., of Ann Arbor and Montreal. The bride-to-be is a student at the University, and Mr. Winter is a teaching fellow in the Depart- ment of Economics. Dr. W. P. Lemon will officiate at the ceremony, which will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church. A re- ception will follow at the home of Puth Hedeman, the bride's maid-I of-honor. League, will begin tomorrow on campus. Tickets may be purchased dur- ing the week from 10 a.m. to noon in the Engineering Arch, from 10 ,.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on the Diag and in University Ifall, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the League lobby and from noon to 5 p.m. in the Union. Students may also obtain tickets from Mrs. Lone Hendrian's desk in the Un- dergraduate office of the League. Dormitory, League house, fraternity and sorority residents- will continue to sell tickets throughout the week. Mean- while, stunts and skits by pub- licity committee members will preview the Cabaret in coed houses and on campus.. Taking over the entire second floor of the League, the Cabaret will be an extravaganza represent- ing the gay life in a Bohemian village. Dancing will be featured in the ballroom throughout the evening with LeRoy Smith and his orchestra on Friday night and Tony Currier and his orchestra on Saturday night. Other Cabaret events in- clude a mixer in the Hussey Room, games in the Kalamazoo Room, refreshments in the Grand Rapids Room and floor- shows at 8:30 and 10 p.m. in Lydia Mendelssohn Theater. Tickets must be purchased to indicate which floorshow the buyer wishes to attend. This plan was devised by the central com- mittee to avoid the congestion of performances last year.. All petitions for senior positions for the 1948-49 school year must be submitted to the Undergrad- uate Office in the League before this time. With the exception of extreme cases, no petition will be accepted after the stated deadline. Written reports of past offi- cers are available to coeds in Miss McCormick's office. The specific duties of each League Council position are also out- lined in the League Lowdown and on the bulletin board in the UJnderg raduate Office. Interviewing for the various of- fices will be held tomorrow through Friday, Dec. 12. Petition- ers must sign for interviews at the time they file their petition. Ber- tolle, a jeweler who donated 'the gold for the Princess's ring, dis- closed tonight. When Princess Elizabeth be- came engaged, he offered the gold to her in a letter. "The Princess was delighted with the idea," he said.
