NAM To Discuss Portal Pay Fight DETROIT, Jan. 9 - (A) - A judge's invitation to management, labor and other groups to voice their opinions in the portal-to- portal pay dispute received its first acceptance today from the Na- tional Association of Manufac- turers. Dr. Li, Will Open Lecture Series Today Chinese Mind To Be Topic of Discussion Dr. Lin Tung-chi, professor of government and history at Na- tional Futan University, China, will speak on "The Aristocratic Antecedent" at 4:15 p.m. today in the Rackham Amphitheatre. Dr. Lin, who received his B.A. from the University. in 1928, re- turned to the United States in June, 1945 as a guest of the State Department under its Cultural Cooperation Program. During the past year, he has been conferring with officials at numerous Amer- ican universities as head of the Library of Western Thought, a Chinese endowed institution to be established in Shanghai for the specific purpose of studying the basic ideas and institutions of the West. Before joining the National Fu- tan University in 1942, he served as dean of the College of Letters and Law and professor of political science at the National University of Yunnan. This is the first in a series of four lectures on "The Quest of the Chinese Mind" which Dr. Lin will deliver under the joint auspices of the history department and the Oriental Civilization Program. He will speak on "The Enlight- enment: Prize and Price" at 8:10 p.m. Monday; "Humanism or Be- yond Humanisin" at 4:15 p.m., Jan. 15; and "The Emerging Ethos" at 4:15 p.m., Jan. 17.
