Featuring volleyball, ping pong, badminton, bridge, and social dancing, the Gym Jam will be held in Waterman and Barbour Gyms. Students are invited to come stag or on dates to the informal sports night. Gym Jam is a continuation of the campus custom of Rec Rallies, held during the war. The first of these was presented early in 1942 as a climax to the physical fitness and exercise program which fea- tured lectures and demonstrations and mass exercises in the various campus .residences. According to Miss Marie Hartwig of the Department of Physical Ed- ucation for Women, "The first Rec Rally was such a success that three more were held during the remain- der of the year." The sports nights were continued during the following year, with four more Rec Rallies offering coeduca- tional sports to students in 1942- '43. None, however, were presented in the next two years. Last year the WAA took over the sponsorship of the sport nights, renaming them Gym Jams. Held twice during the year, the pro- grams featured volleyball, badmin- ton, bridge, and square dancing. Sports will be offered in the com- bined gyms, and refreshments are to be served in the Fencing Room of Barbour Gym. I.. I Better Support...
