During peacetime members may resign at any time. Both army and navy veterans will be given reserve ratings com- parable to ranks held in service. Picturing the roles of the church, the town and the castle in the everyday life of medieval man, the 24 panels each contain from one to six photographs with explana- tory captions, a number of which aid not appear in the magazine. In a series of panels devoted to the church are pictures of the Cathedral of Chartes, the Abbey Church at Vezelay, Fountains Ab- bey and sculptural details and color reproductions of stained glass from Bourges and Chartes. Town life in the Middle Ages is portrayed by engravings of street scenes and glimpses of Nur- emburg, Dinkelsbuhl, Avignon and others centers of medieval life. Another division of the exhibit is devoted to the feudal life cent- ering around the lord's castle. Color reproductions include the Unicorn Hunt tapestry, now in The Cloisters, Metropolitan Muse- um of Art, and Life in the Manor, from a fifteenth century Flemish manuscript in the Morgan Lib- rary.
