X, MARCH 6,' 1946 T'HE MICHIGAN DAILY AGE FVl I First Performance of JG Play To Be Held For Senior Women I Figure Skaters Will Hold Fourth Annual Carnival at Michigan Rink .........._ i Daily to Hold Meeting Today for Coeds Desiring to Work on Women's Staff I A. it "There's Room for All," 1947 Jun- ior Girls Play, will be presented for the first time at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, in Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, to honor senior women after the dinner and special program of Senior Night. Tickets for the Senior Supper at 6 p.m. in the League Ballroom may be purchased between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the of- fice of the Social Director of the League. Immediately following the dinner, senior women will go to Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre for the tradi- tional Senior Night program. All senior women must wear caps and gowns, and none will be admit- ted to either the supper or the play without them. Gowns may be picked up Wednesday, March 13, and Thurs- day, March 14, at a local sport shop. A fee of $5 must be deposited to rent caps and gowns, and a $3 refund will be made upon their return. All wom- en graduating in June must procure their gown at this time, and they may be kept until June. Any women receiving any more than a Bachelor's degree must place a special order for ;heir robes. Community singing in the Theatre will open the traditional program for Senior Night. Senior Parade, in which married women light candles, engaged women suck lemons, pinned women wear straight pins, and unat- tached women throw as many pennies as they are old into the wishing well will take place on the stage of the Theatre. "There's Room for All," a satire on a theme familiar to all University ;oeds, will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. Written, directed, and produced solely ay Junior women, who promise that the script will have laughs and en- tertainment in the way of original songs and dances. In keeping with tradition, the exact theme of the play must be kept secret until senior women have seen the first presenta- tion. Coeds May Sign For Rushing Today In Panhel Office Prospective rushees may register from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the last time today in the Panhellenic Office or the League. Those interested must have at least a "C" average and must bring their report cards to the Panhellenic Office in the order to certify their grades. Those women who have not as yet re- ceived their report cards can register without them but will be checked in the Dean's office. There will be a compulsory rushing meeting at 7:30 p.m. today in the Rackham Auditorium. At this meet- ing the present system of rushing and information about open houses and invitational parties will be explained. After the first Open Houses, which all rushees will attend, there will be a weekly series of invitational parties at the houses. During the last week of March final desserts will take place and pledging will be Sunday, March 31. The fourth Annual Figure Skating Carnival will be held at 8 p.m. Sun- day and Monday at the Michigan Rink, under the direction of Mary Frances Greschke, University coed. Featured groups at the Carnival will be the Ann Arbor Figure Skat- ing Club and the University Women's Figure Skating Club. Dr. John Bean heads the Ann Arbor group, while the Women's group is headed by Colle Ide. Included on the program will be novelty numbers, pairs, trios and ballet groups. Frances Radford, a student in the Architecture School will be one of the featured skaters as well as Judy Cushing, Mimi Lewis. Suzzane Ross and Jill Thompson. Smith Coeds Form Stocks Corporation When 18 upperclassmen at Smith College, in conjunction with the eco- nomics department come into their own by forming a corporation for the purpose of trading in stocks and securities, it is a sign of the times. These prospective incorporators are enrolled in a corporations course. "Ecelyco" or Economics Class Cor- poration, was incorporated under the laws of Massachusetts with the con- sent of President Herbert Davis, and the laws and by-laws were drawn up by the class itself. Prof. Ross, lecturer of the econom- ics course and the corporation's legal adviser, said the Ecclyco corporation will give the students an opportunity for corporate accounting practice. Dr. Bradley Patten and Miss Greschke, one of the outstanding skaters of the middle west, will skate in a pair, and several professional skaters from Detroit will be included on the program. Tickets may be purchased at a lo- cA bookstore. the League, and the Union. Tickets to Be Sold For Pay-Off Dance The informal Pay-Off Dance, which will be presented be presented from 9 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, the night after J-Hop, in the League Ballroom will feature the music of Denny Beckner and his "Mad Cap" Merrymakers. Tickets for this women-bid affair, priced at $2 are to be sold from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, tomorrow and Friday at the League and on the Diagonal. Mortarboard, all campus honor- ary society for senior women, is sponsoring the traditional Pay-Off Dance. Previous to the war, Mortar- board presented this dance for fif- teen years. It was always held the weekend after J-Hop but was moved up a week this year. Doris Heidgen will be general chairman for the af- fair. The dance will be informal and street length dresses will be in order. The dance programs will bear minia- ture Mortarboard emblems.
