It is expected that from 35 to 38 men will' be taken on the trip. Arrive Tomorrow ": ..,r,; The squad will arrive in Baltimore s:.'l y" " Boasting a roster which contains a wealth of good hockey players, Mich- gan's 1945-46 puck squad is priming for its first engagement against the crack Windsor Spitfires December 1 in the border city. The Wolverine line-up is studded with young but experienced Cana- dians, all of whom have seen action in Dominion Junior Cup play. Although the squad's age averages only about eighteen, Coach Vic Heyliger has veteran pucksters at every position. Heyliger has three forward lines and at least two defense lines, all of equal strength, so the Wolverines will be able to send a fresh team on the ice at all times. First Line Set Michigan's first line will have Walt- er Gacek at center with Walt Grant on the left wing and Neil Celley at right wing. Gacek played for the Winnipeg Monarchs in the Western Canada Junior Cup finals last year. Grant and Celley played for the Eve- leth, Minn., high school team, which won the state hockey championship. Clem Cossalter, defenseman, who is also on the Michigan ice squad team- ed with Grant and Celley. Gordon McMillian center and Bill Jacobson and Al Renfrew at the wings comprise the second line. Each has seen action in Canadian Junior Cup finals, and all have played consider- able hockey. The third line will have Chet Kuznier who hails from Sudbury, Ont., playing center. Dick Starrak from Moose Jaw, Can., will be on the left wing and Bob Arnett, who gained his puck experience around Regina, Can., will handle the right wing duties. Canadians Dominate Bob Marshall and Ross Smith, for- merly of the RCAF are on defense I-M SHORTS Beginning Monday, November 12 the I-M Building will be open in the evening until 10 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Smith did his skating for Toronto's De LaSalle. With the Cana- dian Army until recently, Hill has seen action in Pacific Coast and On- tario hockey circles. Minding Michigan nets this season will be Dick McInnes another Tor- onto product. McInnes was a sub goalie in last year's Memorial cup play with the Moose Jaw Seniors. Dick Mixer, last year's Wolverine goalie, will understudy McInnes. Other prospects include Jim John- son, son of the great Ching Johnson, Joe Marzlik from Toronto, and Sam Steadman of Winnipeg. All will probably see much action before the season's end. FieldChristened: Michigan Stadium Michigan Stadium is now Mich- igan Stadium. The University Board of Re- gents made the name official in its meeting Tuesday night, after re- tiring Athletic Director Fielding H. Yost, under whose guidance the giant bowl was constructed, de- clined to have it named in his honor. Dedicated in 1927, the Stadium, one of the nation's largest, has never had an official title, but has been popularly called by its pres- ent name. Thirty Grapplers Out for Drills; Sachsel Only Returning Veteran Thirty men reported at the Yost' Fieldhouse yesterday for the Univer- sity of Michigan's wrestling team's first practice in preparation for the 1946 season. Coach Cliff Keen reported that of, the men out for the squad, only three are experienced and the only return- ing veteran from last year's squad is Art Sachsel, who wrestled in the 121- lb. class. Keen, who has been wrestling coach at the University since 1925, recently received his discharge from the Navy after serving for three and one-half years and returned to Michigan to re- sume his job. He announced a ten- tative schedule for the 1946 season. Included in the matches will be Ohio State, Illinois, Northwestern, Indi-' ana, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Michi- gan State. The possibility of a meet before Christmas was also forseen. Practices are being held from 3:00 to 6:00- p. m. Monday through Friday and will continue until the season opens. Keen asserted, "Technique and conditioning will be stressed during the early practices. Also, the men will learn what to do and how to do it with reference to wrestling." According to Keen, "Now is the best time for wrestlers to come out for the team, because there will be no squad cutting."
