Ehsian staff members suggest that the pictures be taken in November r early December to avoid the Christmas rush. Specifications for the pictures are that they be 3"x5" without a border, glossy print, light background, and 22" from crown to chin. Sale of senior picture coupons will begin within a few weeks, and the fee charged will cover the cost of engraving. The coupon serves as a contract between the senior and the yearbook. Former State Governor Is Zeta Psi Guest William Comstock, governor of Michigan from 1933 to 1935, was the guest of honor of the Zeta Psi fra- ternity at a banquet last Friday in the chapter house. The occasion marked the fiftieth anniversary of Mr. Comstock's initia- tion into the fraternity. Guests from other Zeta Psi chapters in Canada and the United States were present. The banquet at the chapter house, 1443 Washtenaw, signalled the open- ing of the chapter after five seme- sters of University occupation. The house was purchased by Zeta Psi in 1942. Representatives of the following universities sent representatives to the banquet: Yale, Williams, Bow- doin, Brown, Tufts, Cornell, Lafay- ette, College of Eastern Pennsylva- nia, New York University, McGill, the University of Wisconsin, the Uni- versity of Minnesota and the Univer- sity of Illinois. This was the largest gathering of the fraternity ever held in the middle west. Colleges To Vie In Bond Contest A contest to discover the college having the most effective war bond drive has been announced by the treasury department. The contest, which began October 15, will run until December 15. The winning school will receive or- iginal manuscripts of Sherwood And- erson's "Memoirs," Hans Habe's "A Thousand Shall Fall," Margaret Hal- sey's "Some of My Best Friends Are Soldiers," George Stewart's "Names on the Land," and Glenway Wescott's "Apartment in Athens." For the outstanding student or fac- ulty photography of bond activities, the well known American photogra- pher, Captain Edward Steichen, USNR, has contributed an original camera study. For distinguished Bond programs in member colleges, the National As- sociation of Deans and Registrars of Negro Colleges has announced a spe- cial contest. New Debating Coach Was Ex War Analyist Dr. Charles W. Lomas, who will fill- the post recently vacated by Dr. Ken- neth G. Hance as University debat- ing coach, was formerly war prop- aganda analyst for the Office of War Information in San Francisco and also professor of speech and debating at both Stanford University and the University of Pittsburg. Both professors are members of Delta Sigma Rho, honorary speech fraternity. Dr. Lomas was National Vice-President of that fraternity and Dr. Hance was Executive Secretary.
