Among the representatives are sev- eral American students who will re- main in Europe after the close of the Conference to serve as delegates to the International Students Day ob- servance Nov. 17 at Charles Univer- sity in Prague. A program to take place here at the University on that day is being arranged by the Student Organiza- tion for International Cooperation. Students day is observed in commem- oration of the students who were massacred in Prague during an up- rising against the Nazi invaders. The London conference, thefirst such gathering of world youth in] more than four years, is concerned with youth's role in maintining peace. On the agenda for discussion1 are problems of rehabiliation in war- torn countries, and methods of as- suring job security to peoples of all lands.' The Conference, which convened yesterday, will adjourn Nov. 6. War Prisoners Meet Death In Train Accident BLISSFIELD, Mich. - Thirteen German prisoners of war were killed and eleven others injured when a truck in which they were riding was struck by a west bound New York Central passenger train yesterday afternoon a half mile east of Bliss- field, Michigan. The injured included nine prison- ers, members of Rommel's Afrika Korps prior to their capture, an American soldier, who was acting as guard, and Pasquel Martinez, a civil- ian, who was driving the truck. The prisoners had been working on Martinez' farm and were being trans- ported back to the prison camp at Blissfield when the accident occurred. Grad Language Degree Offered Advanced degrees in linguistic sci- ence are to be given at the University, beginning this semester, the School of Graduate Studies announced yes- terday. Resources of several language de- partments will be coordinated by a committee on linguistics, the mem- bers of which will be appointed by the executive board of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Stud- ies. This group will formulate pro- grams of study in linguistic science. The science of language in general, rather than a selected language, will be emphasized. N. ha ret Co th fro s SO I Fall Term Officers Three Students To Report on Trip to Mexico Spanish Club's First Meeting Is Scheduled Three students, sent by La Sociedad Hispanica to the University of Mex- ico last summer, will report on their experiences there at the first meet- ing of the campus Spanish Club which is scheduled for sometime next week. These students Bernice - Brett- schneider, Lorna Fleming and Ann Sugar were sent to Mexico on the annual scholarships awarded to the students who are the most active in their work with the club. In addition there will be an elec- tion of officers, and discussion of plans for the year, to include the annual play, a series of lectures, movies, and various social programs.
