TUE~SD~AY, FEB. 13, 1945 THE MICHIGAN DAILY Panhel' Booth To Open in League r,- *g March 5 for Rushee Registration k es All Michigan coeds who want to take part in rushing must register at the Panhellenic Booth in the Michi- gan League before Wednesday, March 7th, announced Peg Laubengayer, president of Panhellenic Association, today. Registration is scheduled to extend from Monday, March 5, through Wed-. nesday, March 7th. A $1.50 fee and report card showing 15 hours of C. or better, must be presented at the time of registration. Meeting To Be Held All questions not answered in the booklet obtained at the time of reg- istration, will be answered in full in an educational meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Rackham Auditorium. The purpose of this meeting is to explain sororities and the rushing system to all prospective rushees. Coeds are urged to talk over the possibilities of participating in rush- ing with their parents between seme- sters. Rushing will extend from Fri- day, March 9, through Wednesday, March 28. Each sorority house, be- ginning Friday, March 9 through Sunday, March 11, will give three Opera Houses. For -the Open Houses, there will be no invitations, and all rushees must visit all houses of their own denomination. A series of parties are scheduled after the Open Houses, followed by1 Final Desserts and pledging on AprilI 2. Only Scheduled Rushing To Occur The following contact rules for the rushing season go into effect Monday, March 5, and extend through Mon-I day, April 2. There will be no pre-? arranged meetings or invitations ex- tended to freshmen or independentc upperclassmen by sorority women with the exception of scheduled rush- ing parties. From 9:45 p. m. on Wednesday,1 March 28, until 3;00 p. in. Saturday, March 31, there will be absolutely no, communication between sorority women and any rushee. There shall be no discussion be- tween sorority women and indepen- dents or rushees concerning sorori- ties at any time. Independents and rushees may secure information about sororities from the Office of the Dean of Women. fScroll Elects Nw Officers At a recent meeting, Scroll, senior women's honorary society for affili- ated women, elected its officers for the forthcoming semester. Newly elected officers and the posi- tion they hold are as follows: Dusty Miller, member of Pi Beta Phi, and Chairman of the Child Care Commit- tee is the newly elected president. Jgan Pullum, affiliated with Alpha Gamma Delta and Chairman of the Merit Committee of the Women's War Council will serve as vice-presi- dent. Barbara Bathke, a member of gappa Alpha Theta and vice-presi- dent of W. A. A. will serve as secre- tary. Devens, Mass. She received a dis- charge because of illness and became a civilian employee of the Foreign Service. Last July she was sent to Algiers, Africa and remained there for three months. Barbara Alt, seaman 1/C, a grad- uate of the University School of Education, has returned to Hunter College in New York City for fur- ther training in the WAVES. She has completed boot training and Specialist's School at the New York Naval Training School. s Miss Alt is affiliated with Kappa Delta sorority. Pvt. Marian Nichols of the WAC has been assigned to Fort Dix, New Jersey where she will serve as medi- cal secretary. Pvt. Nichols, a former student at the University, has just completed a five-week basic training course at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. Patricia Gehlert, '44, who was an ! A/S at the Naval Reserve Midship- man's School at Northampton is now attending the Supply Corps School at Radcliffe College in Cam- bridge, Mass. She is an Ensign in the WAVES. Miss Gehlert is a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. A former student at the University, I Helen Garlington, is now in France as an American Red Cross worker. Previously she was in England to serve the armed forces asian Ameri- can Red Cross Hospital Recreation worker. Later she was at a *para- trooper's hospital in Northern Eng- land and then went to Wales for "wo months. Virginia Frances Gibson, '41, a member of the SPARs has enrolled in the third class of the Pay and Supply Officer's School at Palm Beach, Florida. She entered the service in June, 1943 and received her boot training at the Coast ,Guard Training Station at Palm Beach. Previous to her enrollment she was a SK 3/c at the Coast Guard Supply Depot in New York. Nancy Glover Drew, a graduate of x942, is an Ensign in the WAVES in Norfolk, Virginia.
