With Nine Timely Blows
Coach Fisher's Crew Take On Bunker HIll in
Final Appearance of Season at Ferry Field

While his teammates were knockinghout 9 hits, Jack Hackstadt, Wol-
verine pitcher, won his third game of the season, as the Maize and Blue
nine won its second game from Romulus, 6-2.
After taking a crucial Conference series from Indiana over the weekend,
the title-bound Michigan club showed plenty of power at the plate, in run-
ning its winning streak to 13. Walt Kell, fiery third baseman, Jack Weis-
enburger, freshman shortstop, and

team captain Don Lund all snared
two hits off the two Romulus hurl-
ers.
Wolverines Get Six Hits
The Wolverines cashed in for all
of their runs in the third and fourth
frames, bunching six hits for the
six runs. In the third, Hackstadt got
on base on an error, but was forced
out at second by Kell. Weisenburger
then lashed out a triple scoring Kell,
but was put out trying to stretch the
hit to a homer. Bill Gregor singled,
stole second and advanced to third on
the catcher's bad throw, and then
scored on the next play, as Lund
pounded out a base hit. Nelson end-
ed the inning, flying out to short.
In the next frame the Wolverine
club batted around to stage their
biggest hitting spree of the day. After
Tom Rosema struck out, Joe Sobel-
ski walked, Bob Stevenson singled
and was forced out by Hackstadt at
second, Sobelski going to third. Kell
sent him home with a single, and,
after Weisenburger also singled and
Gregor was hit by the pitcher, Lund
batted in two runs with a hard smash
through second, and Nelson then
struck out.
Romulus Scores in Fifth
The Air Base nine had a hard time
getting to Hackstadt as he held them
to seven scattered hits, but did get
a tally in the fifth and another in the
seventh. In the fifth, singles by Lou

the Bunker Hill club three weeks ago,
but according to coach Fisher, "they
should have a pretty fair ballclub."
