A point behind and with just a mite over a minute to go, Shrider broke for the basket, and was fouled by Dave Strack, the misplay putting the Wolverine forward out of the game. Shrider made good on the free throw to knot the count at 44, and then, with only six seconds re- maining, dribbled in from the side to sink the "clincher." w Shrider Shares Scoring Honors Shrider, although in the game only 18 minutes, scored 15 points to share tthe game's scoring honors with Mandler. Lou Trabitz, another Buck substitute forward, scored 12 points, giving the Ohio second-string for- wards 27 points while the two regu- lars had a total of three. The Wolverines outscored Ohio from the field, 20 goals to 18, but Ohio missed only two of 12 free throws while Michigan collected on only four of seven. The bespectacled senior led the rec- ord-breaking field home by more than five yards. Captain Dave Matthews also broke both existing records with a time of 1:54.6, and sophomore Johnny Roxborough snapped Hogan's mark and tied Rosenkrantz's time of 1:55.1. Ufer Trails Most of Race Ufer trailed Matthews until the back stretch of the second lap and then bulleted by Matthews who held second place ahead of Roxborough. Bill Wheatley took fourth and Hal Carpenter of Normal was fifth. Wheatley's time was 2:00.2. Buoyed up by the great running of their three teammates, Ross Hume and John Ingersoll ran a special three-qtarter mile race with the for- mer winning in 3:08.1, Ingersoll being timed in 3:08.5. Ralph Schwarzkopf hold the Varsity record, around 3:03. The best previous time turned in this season was 3:12.7. Ernie Leonardi, rounding into form after a siege of illness, triumphed in the two-mile in 9:44.8 with Bob Hume second in 9:45. Leonardi's last timed two-mile race at the Field House was 9:56, a definite indication that he will be a threat in the Conference March 5-6.
