Every year there's a group of upperclassmen who feel invested with the
duty of informing the neophytes by means of a Morocco-bound edition (or
reasonable facsimile) of the "accepted dogma of students at the University.

of exercises which the house athletic
managers took back to their houses
and subsequently turned over to the
women who made use of them every
night at 10:30 p.m.
Sports Day was celebrated as a
finaleto the physical fitness program
for the 1942-43 semesters, and at
that time the many campus organi-
zations performed exercises on Pal-
mer Field, adjoining the WAB, and
then ran in a series of relays.
The clubs themselves hold special
events. One of the most noteworthy
of these is the Crop and Saddle Horse
Show held every spring.

Freshman Women
Entertain Soldiers
For Class Project
Freshman Project, which was be-
gun last February, provides enter-
tainment for all service men sta-
tioned on the campus. It is one of the
projects of which freshman women
are especially invited to work.
The Coeds act as hostesses at the
Saturday night functions, in the
Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo Rooms
of the League where dancing, games,
and concert music are furnished.
If the weather permits, dancing
may be held outdoors on some of the
evenings.
This project will continue during
the summer under the direction of
Betsy Perry, '46, and Dona Gui-I
maraes, '46, and all Freshman women
who are interested are urged to come.
There will be a mass meeting held
early in the semester; instructions as
to how to sign up for this work will
be given during registration.

While there are no sophomore
honory societies, there are several op-
portunities to break into the head-
lines as a junior. Those few students
who manage to pull in grades of three
quarters "A" and one quarter "~B" are
eligible for Phi Beta Kappa.
Activities women may aim for their
honors in honor socities where the
scholastic requirements are not so
stiff. Wyvern is an honorary society
that, selects a limited number of
sophomore women each spring on
the basis of their participation in
extra-curricular activities. Members
are also required to have a better
than "C" average.
Special honor societies for both in-
dependent and sorority women may
be found for seniors. An independent
with an average equal to the Univer-
sity average, may be tapped for Sen-
ior Society, providing she has been a
leader 'in activities as well.
Mortar Board is another honor
society for all senior women with a
high scholastic average, who have
also been of definite service during
their college career.
