Prof. Watkins To GiVe Talk Here Sunda y Speaker To Discuss Price Acceleration, Currency Expansion In Wartime' With the spectacle of rising price indices at home and established Black Bourses abroad, "Inflation and the War" will be discussed by Prof. Leonard L. Watkins at a public lec- ture Sunday in Rackham Lecture Hall. Professor Watkins' talk, sponsored by the Ann Arbor chapter of the Committee to Defend America, will deal with the daily-increasing prob- lem of war-stimulated price acceler- ation and. currency expansion. A member of the University eco- nomics department since 1926, Pro- fessor Watkins is a member of the Editorial Board and the Executive Committee of the American Eco- nomic Association. He is a specialist in the field of money and banking. In 1928-29 Professor Watkins stud- ied in England as recipient of the Social Science 'Research Fellowship. In 1929 he earned a $2500 prize, of- fered by the Chicago Trust Company, for his book "Banker's Balances." The Sunday night showings will also include La Maternelle, The Thir- teen, and The Lady Vanishes, all top notch films fo the past few years. The O'Neill production which stars Paul Robeson will open the series Feb. 22 to be followed on Mar. 8 by La Maternelle, one of the finest French films of all time and one which drew enthusiastic appleause at its showing here several years ago. The third production will be The Thirteen, a picture based on the ex- perience of 13 Russians with 200 bandits. It will be shown March 15. Alfred Hitchcock's most convincing thriller will close the series April 5. The Lady Vanishes is one of the best of its type ever filmed and has re- ceived international recognition. Paul Lukas, Michael Redgrave, and Mar- garet Lockwood are its stars, but as in all Hitchcock pictures, it is the director's work which is outstanding.
