Quad To Hold
Faculty Party
Visitors To Be Welcomed

Men of the West Quadrangle will
play hosts to over 1,000 members;
of the University faculty from 3 tol
6 p.m. today in the largest reception
of the year.
The eight house presidents in the
Quad will receive the guests in thel
main lounge, while 70 carollers un-
der the direction of Prof. David
Mattern of the music school, will en-
tertain the visitors in the concourse1
with traditional Christmas hymns.#
A trio composed of Martin Ulmer,
'42, violinist; William Dewey, '42,
pianist,Fand- George Morley, '45, cell-
ist, will accompany the singers and
Donald Hutchinson, '45, Elwood Pet-
it, 42E, and Charles Lemmon, '45,
will sing solos.

Meinecke Gets Invitation
To Show Water Color
One of the highest honors which
can come to an artist has been fe-
ceived by Tristan Meinecke, '42A.
The Art Institute of Chicago has
invited Meineeke's painting, "City
Landscape" (now at the Detroit In-
stitute of Arts to appear in its In-
ternational Exhibition of Water Col-
ors, to be held from May 14 to Aug-
ust 23. 1942.
Since this exhibition is open for all;
water color artists, professionals as
well as students, this honor is par-
ticularly great for a studant. In ad-
dition, artists do not have to wait
C for an *invitation to the exhibition,
they may submit the paintings them-
selves. Invited works as well as works
accepted by the jury are eligible for
prizes, which this year will amount to
$1100.

D R E S S I N G T H E P A R T-When plans for a basketball
game of 1891 vintage called for a "handlebar mustache", Fritz
Mueller (left) and Charles Legg went all out, in hirsute decora-
tion. Game was part of a golden jubilee celebration marking 50
years of basketball and was played by the Cortland Normal school
students at Cortland, N. Y. Peach baskets served for the game.
