Jumper Trend
Invades Realm
Of Ski*Clothes
Knee-Length Breeches Shown
As Latest Creation For Skating,
Ballerina Skirts Still Popular
By GERTRUDE CLUBB
Winter is definitely here and time
has arrived when you who are sylph-
like on skates and graceful on skis
can show off a little for a change.
Wearing the latest and most attrac-
tive sport clothes will add much to the
effectiveness of ,our performance on
skates or skis.
The jumper trend has invaded the
realm of outdoor sports fashions this
year with the creation of a sleeveless,
V-neck, zipper front ski suit made of
gabardine and worn with a poplin
shirt. An elastic band around the
waist gives assurance to any figure
flattering worries.
Shirt Equals Jacket
Ski pants change little, from year
to year except in their getting more
smooth fitting lines, but there are def-
inite trends in ski jackets .and the
latest is a tuck-in shirt jacket worn
with a bright scarf at the neck. -Made
with fly or button front, theĀ° shirts
may be worn with skirt or slacks as
well as ski pants.
If you have trouble keeping your
small ski cap from flying off as you
go shooting down over the snowy
hills, you may welcome the hooded
ski jacket. A tur-trimmed, gabardine
hooded jacket will give you that al-
lure not\ attained by wearing just a
plain hood.
Well, Here It Is Again
A new and different outfit for skat-
ing featu'res knee-length breeches
worn with a bright sweater and knee-
length socks. This latest creation was
inspired by and very'much resembles
your knee-length shorts worn last
summer.
For you really champion skaters
has been designed a one piece baller-
ina outfit. Figure-fitting, its zipper'
front makes it easy to slip into and
its two tone color completes its flat-
tery.
The Deer--Not The MVan
,Although skating, skiiing and to-
bogganing comprise the usual list of
winter sports, if you happen to spend
your vacation in northern Michign,
you may run across a man who wants
to take you deer hunting. Even if
you have never held a gun in your
hand-let alone shooting one, you
will waht to go for the great sport.
Red is a necessity in your outfit
for deer hunting and a hev-y red
sweater, sweat shirt or jacket will
suffice. However, if you have any ap-
prehensions, it won't do any harm
to have a complete red outfit in-
cluding mittens, cap, socks and even
long red woolies if you like.

Sheet Music,
Records Solve
Gift Problems
Marian Anderson, Horowitz,
Heifetz, Alex Templeton, Shaw
Are Few Of Artists Available
By HELEN WALSH
If your Christmas shopping list has
numerous blanks after friend's and
family's names, here is one -of the
best ideas yet and it covers them all.
The answer is something in records or
sheet music.
The older members of the family
including boys and., girls of college
age will love the album of Great Songs
of Faith, sung by Marian Anderson,
accompanied by a symphony orcestra,
with selections from Handel's Mes-
siah, and Bach's St. John Passion,
etc.
In The Classic Vein
Carols for Christmas Eve are sung
by the Victor Chapel Choir accom-
panied by the organ. This contains
many well known carols. Among the
outstanding selections is Tschaikow-
sky's Piano Concerto No. 1, played by
Vladimir Horowitz and the NBC Sym-
phony conducted by Toscanini.
Another of the favorite albums is
Brahm's Double Concerto for Violin
and Cello, played by IEeifetz and Feu-
ermann and the Philadelphia Orches-
tra. If you like waltzes, what could
be better than the album of Strauss
Waltzes, played by Andre Kostelan-
etz? Rhapsody in Blue played by Alex
Templeton accompanied by Andre
Kostelanetz and his orchestra makes
a worthy gift for family or friend.
Give With Artie Shaw
For sister we suggest Artie Shaw's
Four Star Favorite Album and the
teen-age brother will have a big time
with Gems of Jazz if the rest of the
family can stand it. Also in the semi-
light vein are Jerome Kern's two
albums containing such favorites as
They Didn't Believe Me, Make Believe,
Show Boat and Roberta. For very
young members there is an album of
selections from ,Walt Disney's
"Dumbo" which is very good.
The selection of sheet music is
equally as wide with endless single
pieces of music and such volumes as
Famous Symphonic Poems for the
more technical side of it. Then there
are Collection Moderne, 56 Songs You
Like To Sing, Victor Herbert's Song
Album,. Songs for the Child World
and many others.
Give Cultured Pearls
Pearls are the perennial gift, the
perfect present. Give cultured pearls
if possible--inexpensive for all their
beauty, The three strand'ones are
still. popular although the very long
strand that goes around the neck
three times is winning many admir-
er's. Pearl bracelets and pearl ear-
rings as additions make perfect sets.

Anyone Got A'Ma tch?
Here's The Answer
As a constant reminder of your
deep and unending affection, give her
or him monogrammed matches en-
closed in< leather monogrammed case.
Each book of matches ,is twice the
ordinary size, and since it fits so
securely into the outer case, the pos-'
sibility of losing them is greatly
diminished.
No longer need your loved-one cry,
"Has anyone got a match?" Who
knows, perhaps he or she 'might meet
someone else that way. Now, wouldn't
that be disastrous. Show your pre-
