You Can't Play Godiva Forever; Experiment With New H at Style By JEAN CALDWELL Even though the Michigan coed doesn't wear a hat very often, thereI are times when the occasion demands us to break with this habit of ours. For such times as these we suggest the following: The cloche bonnet. It's reallyj climbing right up to top place (with apologies to the Hit-Parade) and promises to be one of the blst for town wear this winter. The deep crown gives height to those who don't -have it and the bonnet tones down the severe look and flatters you as only a bonnet can. Flowers For Fall "The flowers that bloom in the fall, tra-la" are really blossoming forth this season, now with your suit and later with your fur coat. A black orj brown crown with cyclamen, blue, or gold flowers will fill the bill for something dressy after five. Theyj come with veils or snoods for those. who like back-fullness. Five O'clock Fireworks is what theyI call those bonnets that are brighten-} ed by sequins. It's a very appropriate name. The sequins catch the lights as they begin to blink on apd reflect them like the sparklers on the Fourth of July. Our sequin-eyed susan is ready to do some fancy heart-snatch- ing, so beware! Add Some Quills, For those who like the classic sailor, something new has been added - qiuills. They add dash and a jaunty note to your city suit or country tweeds, 4nd with a veil, are handy hats for that 9:00 to 5:00 dress. They say that the season's sil- houette is down in back-down in looks too we think, and you can quqte us. The snood effect is too much hat, besides getting ii the way of your coat. Feathers are coming in for their share of popularity this year. On sailors, on brims, and on all sorts of casual hats they add a dab of color to your costume. Put them on a pillbox, pile your hair on top of your head in soft curls, and we guar- antee the results. variety In Cdmrpus Attire Is Provided By Wool Classics If you've grown a little weary of the traditional sweater and skirt for classes and sport, why not give your- self a new lease on life with a new casual wool dress? The classic shirt- waist is always a favorite for campus wear. One love of a fine-drawn plaid' has very simple but flattering lines. The top is tailored like a shirt and the skirt is pleated. Idaho, this year, but we have plenty of opportunity to do a little impress- ing on local skating rinks and ski chutes, anyhow. For this year win- ter sports outfits are smart and flat- tering enough to make us all look like "Snow Queens." Gabardine has definitely reached the top in popular choice for ski suits, probably because of its flat- tering effect (no more bulking look- The change in weather from earIy fall to pre-winter brings about a not-' iceable change in suit styles. An in- novation this season is the slack suit -slacks with a matching or harmon- izing jacket. and there are still the old timers, the three piece suits and the skirt and jacket combinations. The new slack suits for hiking and bicycling may be had either with a matching jacket or in jacket and slacks of contrasting colors. One jacket is made of navy blue chin- chilla cloth lined in wine jersey with slacks to match. For those who never' go hiking or biking, slacks are very special favorites for studying. Also being featured are dresses with matching coats. Some of the coats are in solid colors with the dresses harmonizing in plaid and the other way around. Of the more novel coat and dress ensembles is the coat of bunny fur trimmed in blue to exactly match its dress. Among the fur-trimmed jackets is one with a collar of light fur that ex- tends the full length and around to the sidcs at the bottom, tuxedo style.
